Nice catch, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the report preach!
Woodworker when looking for Warner waterin the 60s the fish pattern better. Meaning they are easy to find when they're on the bank. The males on the big E makes best shallow (6inch-2ft). The females are out off the points on the breaklines. Use this rule: fish half the water depth. 8ft of water fish 4ff, 6ft deep fish 3.
Fished today with my girlfriend Junie, she had the big fish at 1.41a female bulging with eggs. We got on the water at 2:00 fished till 7:00. Had 9 keepers. Double dippin in 4-7ft fishing 2-4ft deep. Black and pink wastage color water vis was 3-4 inches, murkier than I like it but the fish did bite. EB
Thanks EB--I appreciate all the info. Maybe by next weekend things will have picked up a notch or 2! I'm watching the forecast with intense interest!
Double Dippin is a slow trolling technique. Rod in each hand rigged with 1 jig 2 jigs or minnow rig. We troll .3-.5mph hour along the banks, rip rap, points, breaklines etc. It's a version of spider rigging except you get to feel the bite. I typically use this technique when looking for fish bc it allows me to cover more water in a shorter amount of time bc you have less equipment than slider rigging moving from spot to spot. EB
Dippin two jigs vertically.......up and down occasionally.
Ooops, guess my idea of double dippin is wrong........sorry.
Fished north end again yesterday same depth and on minnows as my last report caught 11 between 3:30 and 7:00
Toads full of eggs. Caught 47 yesterday 8-10' FOW Muddy.

Caught some good ones today Spider Rigging in 12 to 14 ft water. Best fish was 1.7 on Ronnie Megowins new digital scales. Attachment 156721
What exactly is considered Gaines Creek on Eufaula ?
Is Gaines Creek the entire arm of the lake from the South Canadian to McAlester ?
Or is it only far south, near McAlester, near the Hickory Point Rec Area ?
How in the world , do you spider rig in this wind ?
I thought about trying that, but then I think , when would the wind in Oklahoma be light enough that I could control the boat and all those lines.
Fished north end. Water temp 57-60. Caught 25. Kept 20. Biggest was 1.8 lbs. most caught vertical jigging brush and second best was minnows under cork. Water clarity was 3-6 in. Color Of choice was black/chatruese. Most fish caught at tops of brush. 4-10 fow fishing 1-2 ft deep
I always work into the wind and you got to plan for it and work banks that protect you from it. I switched from a aluminum boat to a fiberglass and that makes it much easier.
Odie and I fished yesterday on the South end of the lake, we had 11keepers double dippin in 4-8 fow. The water was really stained had maybe 4 inch vis. Firefly color minnow mindrs was the most consistent bait. Our biggest was 1.85! EB
Caught 8, kept 5 and all 5 were really nice crappie. Water temp was 58 at the dock and they would only bite frisky minnows. Once the minnow slowed down, no bites. Caught these 8 between 6pm and 8pm here at Arrowhead Estates on my buddy's dock. Gonna hit it again in the morning. These are the first fish I have caught this year and I really enjoyed myself.
Three reports from Eufaula
Fountain Head Dock - Saw 3 FULL baskets this morning when I stopped in. Lots of bites in the 4-5 ft depth regardless of water depth
Neighbor went to Graves Creek and cleaned up and they were SHALLOW, mostly black crappie
Friends from McAlester went to Blocker and fished Blue Creek Monday and caught 50+, kept 20 good ones. 4-5ft deep
The 1st wave is definitely on the move to the banks....
males were caught yesterday in 8" to 2.5' on red and chartreuse tube jigs under a cork from the bank. My buddy is going out again this morning to hit them again before the rain and cold front pushes them off the bank.
George, are you just going to bed , or just getting up??:scratchhead YOU KNOW OLD MEN NEED THEIR REST.
Should be good this am....going to hit the shallow water and see what's happening
Saw two guys walking the banks yesterday in there waders, both had a nice stringer of males. Said there was a few up there to catch. Water temp was 61 degrees! EB
Hat, I was thinking the same thing about Cricket's post. Now I have to ask you the same question. I'm guessing that you are fishing right now, after getting up at 4:00 in order to catch the early bite. Hoping to make it over there this weekend.
On second thought, maybe you were up all night cleaning fish with a smile on your face. Either way sounds good.:biggrin
I wish either one was true! Sinus has me whipped, feels like I can't breathe. Any one having same problem and found a solution or cure?
Sorry to hear that, Hat. Red cedars are putting out a lot of pollen right now, and were whipping me pretty good. Fortunately, Nasalcrom takes care of that for me. The good news is that my allergy doctor says that being out on the lake is good for allergies, since the allergens settle on the water. If you are in a boat, or on the bank with the wind in your face, the allergies will give you a break. On the other hand, if you have my wife's cold, it will pass, hopefully before the big bite ends.
ps Allergies can start at any age. I never had one until I was in my thirties, out hunting sage hens in Montana. Ten years later, Dr. Wells said he had never seen anyone who was allergic to every tree, grass, weed, etc. He said the only thing I wasn't allergic to was horses.
Claritin D 12 hr is your allergy friend. Don't use 24 hr or you'll be up all night.
Hit the dock again this morning and only caught one 8" crappie, tossed her back. I'll try it again this evening since I done well yesterday evening.
fish shallow this am didn't see anything shallow near buck brush etc. Not sure of water temp. water muddy....any suggestions for jig color and size (length)
I finally got back to sleep around 5 for 3 more hours of peaceful sleep.
Rick the fish are moving in there in the evenings! EB
Added 3 more nice crappie to the basket this morning, one is right at 2lbs. Going back this evening and see if I can catch some more. Caught these fish in 12 feet deep in 24 feet of water using wassit jigs, brown with golden hues. The others were all on minnows. Forgot to check the water temp, will do that this evening.
Fished Eufala Wednesday with my good friend. Fished from daylight until about 5 pm. Fished single pole single jig in water from 2 to 6 feet deep. Fished the brush piles we had put out last fall. Our reward was 65 nice slab crappie. Anything with chartreuse seemed to work. Had the pleasure of meeting clifft60 today. Hope to see him again soon. It was a pleasure visiting with you!
Fished again today with with another friend. Same technique, except we only fished until 11 am today. Had 23 nice slabs to clean. Biggest fish was 1lb 12 oz and had three at 1lb 11 oz and three more at 1lb. 10oz. They were all taken in 6 feet of water or less. WT was about 57 on Wednesday and about 63 today when we left.
On another note, I was finally able to purchase my annual corp lake pass today! Tired of filling out those envelopes! I sure missed having it! It's well worth the $30. IMO
So how much is this rain gonna affect em? Anybody got any thoughts
I was wondering the same thing Logan, was thinking about going down Saturday. But worried about this cold front that went through giving em lock jaw. What do y'all think?
Doesn't look like the wind is going to blow....blew me off the water yesterday
Everyone must be ore fishing for the tourney cause it's quiet on here today!
