Hello is has been a while since I have posted. I am not the computer much in the summer. The last few trips that I have had we have been averging about 50 keepers. We are catching fish in the timber in 4-8 ft of water. We are dippin beaver-tails with a 5/32 crappie pro head. The head that crappie pro has designed fits this bait perfect and the rate of fall triggers strikes often. There was also a may-fly hatch in the last two weeks and when the wind would blow which wasn't often we could slowly go along the rip-rap Huckabee style and catch good fish that way. The water has about 4-6inch visibility right now in places and in the clearer parts you are probaly going catch fish much deeper. The therma-cline in the lake seems to be around 20 ft down. I have several dates open in the next few days if anypne is interested! Call me @ 918-617-0362 Brian
In the last couple of weeks the fishing has picked up a little! We fished yeaterday out in the lake in standing timber in 12-20ft of water and kept about 40 in 3 hours. We used vibra-king tubes tipped with minnows! They would not touch it unless you had a minnow on it. The water was about 85 degrees. I hadve also heard they have been catching some fish around blocker bridge. But that depends on if the current is there or not. Good fishing!!
We got out and fished Sunday evening! We fished from 1-6 and had 25 keepers. We were fishing black/chart. crappie pro fat bodies. We caught fish pretty much the entire time, there was lots of little ones. We fished laydowns, stumps, Standing timber, etc. The biggest fish was in 1.5ft of water on a little flat off the channel. The man that I took couldn't believe we could catch crappie that shallow in the middle of the summer with the water temps above 90 degrees. Good fishing! EB
Well made the run down to Eufaula today. Came home with 11, but caught around 40-45. If you are into catching and keeping 8"-9 1/2" crappie then you will enjoy the fishing right now on the lake. I personnally will only keep 10" and above fish. It was a blast holding two rods in each hand and catching them two at a time. It got funny for a little bit there. I would get a bite on one pole and set the hook on the other when nothing hit it.
I was using black/pink, pumpkin/chartreuse, pearl/pink beaver tails dipping standing timber. Fished from 6'-10" deep. Found the most productive color to be pearl/pink.
Bump. Anyone fishing Eufaula recently?
Just came home from a week long vacation at Eufaula and the fishing was good all week , my wife and I pulled slabs from timber in Longtown creek using 1 1/2 black and pink beavertails at between 8 to 10 foot in 16' water tipped with minnows , also fished timber across from Arrowhead 10' to 12' using lime green and chart. and black and pink tipped . We fished our boat dock in the early part of the day with minnows and did fair 6' to 10 foot and the bridge at Longtown yealded fish at night with minnows , I guess you can tell there's one common thing , MINNOWS !!!!! :)
Hit some ripraps on 69 on Saturday. Got there about 9 and put a few slabs in the livewell before the rain came. It stopped and we hit some standing timber in the back of a few creeks with no luck. Rained again and this time it didn't stop so we pulled out about noon with 9 keepers and threw back probably double that in dinks. Used White/Chart and Black/Chart beavertails. One guy in our gang used minnows and did almost as well as we did.
Before coming in, we put out 5 of those water noodle juglines and hauled in 5 catfish including a 6lb Flathead in about 30 minutes.
All in all, not a bad few hours if you didn't mind getting soaked.

What did all the rain we recently got do to the lake conditions. According to the Corps site it's at pretty normal depth. However, after living there for about three years I know you can't go by them. Muddy? rising?
Just trying to decide where to go for a few days next week. Might try there for slabs or go somewhere else for trout, smallies.

It probably came up 6" and is steady now, murky north and stained down south. But nothing like the Grand river chain of lakes.
Need some advise about best area, water dept and jig depth as this cool front comes in? Hope to fish between rain this week.
Thanks for your advise
Hello everyone, During one of my most busy times of year, I was able to get out and fish a little Sunday evening. We fished from 2-6 and had 20 keepers! We spider-rigged for the first 2 hours and had 3 fish, then hit some timber with one bite, last we got on some rip-rap with poles in our hands fishing beavertails in 7-8ft of water and had some good fish! You had to get the baits right off the bottom to get hit! If you could feel a rock every now and then that's when you would catch a good fish! The fish seemed to be spread out, one or two here and there! Good fishing! EB
Hello, I thought I would post a report from yesterday. We fished from 10-5 and only had 21 keepers. It was tough with the currents and the wind not cooperating. We finally got on some fish late in the evening on some ledges and channel breaks in the mouth of the creek. We were spider-rigging minnows in 8-13ft fishing 8-10ft deep. It was hard to find good water color, most of the water was still muddy. With the corps pulling water it will be a little while before things settle down again with no more rain for awhile. Good fishing EB
Fished below the spillway last night caught 15 keepers and tons of sand bass. Went back this morning and caught 2 keepers. The water went down a foot or so, but I imagine they are still in the area. Thinking of Hickery Pt this afternoon. Any reports?
I appreciate all the local info. There are plenty of fish to go around. Thanks for the hospitality
Welcome Richard! I have fished that spillway via-boat access from Coal creek and caught alot of fish there everytime. Need to drive there and find how to get to it by foot. Have you done any good in Mac. Lake on crappie?
Lake McAlester has some BIG crappie in it. The winter months are the best fishing off the dam. The Dock has been kinda slow lately
anyone with a report from rock creek or around the bridges? Looking to have a few days off over Thanksgiving and would like to put some in the freezer.
:(We fished my cousins dock at Fountainhead marina Sunday & 4 of us had 14 keepers 3'-4' on Garlands...blue thunder/ black pink. Fished the marina Monday...fished 4'-6' with only 5 keepers on elec. chicken & butterbelly's one guy did fair on bluegrass, 4 guy's using minnows had around 15 nice ones. Tough 2 days but the week before that they caught alot of nice size black & whites mixed all @ 3'-4'.
I am looking for a fishing report on the lake. I have to be at Porum for a meeting on Thursday morning and I should have some time to fish. Does anyone have a suggestion as to depth and location on North end of the lake?
Any reports from Coal or Rock Creek?
Has it thawed? Bride says we can go fishing if the boat is not froze in :) or go to the OKC Home and Garden Show :(.
Anybody know the status at Jason's?

Hello everyone, I know it has been awhile since I have posted. Between football season, getting married, and refereing basketball games I haven't had a chance to go until yesterday. I was able to take my wife and her parents and we caught 64 keepers from 12:00-5:00. We had several fish from 1.25-1.5lbs. We caught them spider-rigging the creek channel with minnows in 14-18ft of water fishing 6-12ft deep. The bite was hot and heavy from 12:00-2:00 we had 52 in 2 hours, then they slacked off a little. I couldn't figure out if they had went shallower or what, but it has been a awhile I a little rusty. I was just tickled to get to take my wife and her parents on a beautiful day. If I were to write an article about this trip it would be titled "Thawed Out Crappie" LOL Good Fishing EB
"I'm a little rusty" Hah...you aint foolin me! You guy's have seined that south end so much those poor crappies all have hook burns on their face.
Thanks, EB. I may try to get down there Thurs. or Fri. I have to work tomorrow at the fire station. Sounds like it was a good day on the water. Glad you were able to get back out on the water and knock off the "rust". It sure doesn't sound like you were rusty to me. You better get all the fishing in you can before baseball starts. If I get down there I'll post the report.

This may be a little long but it was, lets say an eventful day. In spite of all the rain on Wed. night we deciced to go ahead and go to Eufaula yesterday morning. We left BA at about 745 heading to the south end of Eufaula. My buddy wanted to take his boat out since he had just got it back from the shop. None of us 3 had ever fished the very south end so we decided to go down there. We used our navigation system to find a ramp, this was our first mistake. It took us to a ramp in an addition somewhere SE of Buggtussle. Let me just say it is steep and was muddy. We decided against it and had to go to 4wd to get out:eek:. We then went to Hwy 31 landing, nice ramp but looks a little remote. The boat fired right up and floated off the trailer, but when we tried to put it in gear the shifter was locked up:eek:. We called the mechanic who had worked on it and he told us what to try. We had tools but not an extension to get to a recessed nut. So my buddy heads to McAlester to buy the tool we need. In the mean time the mechanic calls us back and tells us he just remembered even if we get that tool we can't fix it with the other tools we have. We decide to troll around a little bit at about 1130 since we have drove 2 hours and never been to this part of the lake anyway. We troll over to Hwy 31 bridge and fish for a couple of hours, and decide to head back. We get about 1/3 of the way back and the trolling motor gets weak and we are just kinda sitting still in the lake:eek:. One of my buddies takes the cowling off and we start the motor. My buddy uses a leatherman tool to pry on the pin to release the shifter and the motor goes into gear:). We drive back to the ramp before taking it out of gear and trying it. It shifts fine into forward and reverse from then on. We guess something was just bound up and after it shifted the first time it fixed it. So we decide to go fish about 245pm.
:)So here is the fishing part of this story. We went into the creek and fished the channels in about 10 to 18 fow. We caught over 30 fish and kept 13 10 inches and over. We quit fishing at 5pm. All fish caught on jigs. Blk/char was the best but we caught some on elcectric chicken. The amazing part to me was the water temp was in the upper 40's to low 50's. With all that happened I considered it a successful trip. We now know a place to launch and what part of the south end looks like. We headed home about about 545 and on the way home we got pulled over by the OHP:eek:. He was nice, but said we didn't move over while he was on shoulder making a stop. We told him there was a line of traffic on the inside lane. Like I said he was nice about it and only wrote my buddy a warning. Quite an adventure for us:D. I made it home to Talala at 9 pm, and was wore out. My wife asked how the day went and I told her I'd have to tell her later, it would take too long.

LOL! I've had the same thing happen in the same location, but we were up in the creek when it happened. It took us hours to get back to the ramp. I'm glad you caught fish, and made it home to tell the story. That area is a good location. Caught loads of fish down there last year. Were you pushin or single pole fishing?
Guru, we all 3 were holding a pole in each hand rigged with 2 1/8 oz jigs in the colors I mentioned. Since we had little to no trolling motor by that time, we just drifted along with the wind and used the trolling motor to keep us in the depth of water we wanted. I also forgot to mention there was a bit of current going toward the lake. Guru hope to meet you down there sometime.
Do you live down there?
Odie
The Corp of Eng. at Oologah put out a lot of brush piles each year and post the GPS location for each. Does Eufaula do anything like this? Or any pointers on how to locate brush piles on that lake?
Odie, thanks for taking the time and effort to share your fishing story........ the good and the bad. Excited me to hear that the crappie are biting at this temperature. I'm too tied up on my house right now to go, but real soon, I'm going to make time regardless of the new house.
Thanks again.:)
Great Fishing Story!!! <*)}}}><
No Odie I live in Claremore. Like yourself I don't mind driving to find crappie. When I head that way I'll let you know.
DHO,
now that is a story! Thanks for sharing.
Apprentice, yes that was the name of the ramp we went to first. Too steep and muddy. I wouldn't suggest launching there unless it is dry.
