Slow day here too.........sigh.
Hit the banks around Gentry Creek/Paradise Point area today. Water was up since I was there Monday. I'd say it has come up about 2 ft. or more since then. Day started slow with rain showers up to nearly noon and the fishing never picked up any appreciative amount. Fished minnows from 1ft to 6ft deep. Ended the day at 4p.m. with 18 but didn't have much size to them. Most were in the 10" range. Water seemed to be rising a little as well.
fished the north end yesterday and today around the gentry creek area caught quite a few fish on the bank yesterday but a different story today only caught 3 shallow today on the bank and put about a million miles on the boat doin it most fish were pulled out and suspended on the first break about 10 ft deep and had the lockjaw had a whoppin 18 today TOUGH day today,,, one thing i thought was strange though was i have never seen the north end that clear EVER ,,, WT 57-60 degrees
good luck and see ya on the water
Fished mid lake. Caught about 20, 9 keepers. First I have fished since the water came up. Fish were still around per the finder, but not nearly as aggressive. Wish I would have bought some minnows, bad day I think to go all jig. Fish were in 10-16 FOW from 5 to 15 feet deep, very scattered. You really had to move around.
Brother in law and sister in law got there limit today! Nice size, all on jigs and bobbers mid lake area Eufaula.
Great report things are looking up....Ranger
Fished crowder city park and rock creek road this morning from the bank, only came up with 2 dinks. Tried minnows and jigs. Headed north to a cove around checotah and nothing either. Talked to another guy that got skunked today as well. The wind that picked up mid morning hurt us bad
What up on here boys? We went today and I see we were not the only ones that had a tough bite. Started out in a creek we caught a few in last week mixed in with sandies....nuttin today. then went to Bugtussel, rolled up in there and it looked good, but no sahallow bite,....cork and jigged out in 4-6' ow and notta. We skipped the minners and maybe that was the ticket? IDK
Caught around 20 today on jigs fishing from my buddy's dock here at Arrowhead, kept only 5 and threw the dinks back for a few more snow cone seasons. Couldn't get them to hit a minnow.
Tough couple of days, fished Saturday and a couple of hours today on north end. Cleaned 40 plus (caught 3X that) - hard to believe how far they backed off after front. Totally different bite from just a few days ago
I had Stink on the phone when he had 2 bites LOL. Last week Sissy tossed her smart phone in the creek,....I think she's tryin to call e'm in LOL!!!
Had 20 or so today trying to hide from that wind. No real
Monsters 1.40 was the big fish spider rigging in 3-8 fow. EB
Tough day for me and my buddy today, fished south end and ended up with 23 keepers plus a couple that got off. Never did find a shallow bite anywhere, all our fish come off jigs in 8-10 fow!!
Headed back to north end tomorrow afternoon. Last Tuesday caught them in 2' water. On Sunday 15'. Any opinions of where to start?
Went south today started horrible. One boat was catching good numbers and size minnows only wouldnt touch a gig. We hit a little cut off the main lake found a bank that we caught 31 keepers at a foot of water. Only gig color was vegas
Hit the North end today before dawn to ensure I got the spot I wanted. Day was chilly with a NE wind even though weatherman said the wind would be out of the South and highs in the mid 70's!:Rofl
Fished until 10:30 with just a few bites and no keepers. Tried everything from 12" to 6' using minnows. Just one of those days I guess!
I havent been since Sunday, gave my boat a good bath and its still wet. LOL EB
Most of the the deep fork watershed just got 3-5 inches of rain in a few hours last night, the river is way up. North end going to be a mud hole again soon. USGS Current Conditions for USGS 07243500 Deep Fork near Beggs, OK
Took a couple days off to fish the Big E. I think I picked the wrong days. went Thursday after the cold front and rain and Saturday. Fished South end Thursday and mid-lake on Saturday. Only caught 2 or 3 keepers each day, the ones we did catch were 2 - 3 fow and they were dark black males. Everyone we talked to seemed to be having similar results. Seems like that cold front really slowed them down. I have a couple days off later this week, but I think I may try my luck on Oologah.
Fished from 11-5 today had 50 keepers. Double dipping jigs in 7-9 ft fishing 4-6ft deep. All the females I cleaned had not laid there eggs. It seemed that everyone today were catching good fish today. It's fixing to get really good on the big E as long as we don't have anymore cold cold rains. EB
EB I agree This will be a great year. 10 year old and I fished 6 hours today on north end although we caught in deeper water. Cleaned 47 and thru back many 8-9" fish. Were you down south?
Yes I was on the south end. EB
Varmint hunter, double dipping is the use of a rod in each hand tight lining jigs. We usually use 2 jigs on each rod as well. Hope this helps paint the picture for ya.
Varmint.......sloooooooow trolling....if u find structure....fish it too but usually moving keeping it about the same depth
thanks cpd21.
Fished the South end today with Kirk and SANDBAG Mike. Techinque was double dippin in 7' to 10' DOW along the channel breaks. We cleaned only 21 crappie but all were big sows. We caught somewhere around 50 to 60 crappie today but only kept big fish. The spawn on the south end is going on now with all of the females I cleaned today mostly spawned out and somewhat skinny. Color mattered today with all comiing from just 2 colors, Lime/Chart and Blk/Chart Yum baits. WT got up to 69 degrees later in the day and was in the low 60's early....Ranger

Really nice fish Ranger, proud of you. You guys had fun and caught some dandies. I done well too, fishing from the dock here in Arrowhead. Great day to be fishing and this weekend is looking great.
Thanks to Ranger09 for taking Me, and Mike fishing today!! Had a blast and it was really a beautiful day on the water with great company. I highly recommend taking a guide trip, if you get a chance. Class act all the way!
Thanks Jim we had 21 twins..beautiful fish they were.....Ranger
Thanks for the kind words Kirk...your a class act yourself..then there is ole SANDBAG..he is a hoot...just got to keep him away from the girls now...Ranger
Ranger, I have figured out what I am going to put on the front of Mike's CDC shirt, SANDBAG!
Fished with Danny and Pam Kirkendall today on the South end and it was really good early and like someone turned off a light switch at 11am. Not another bite before we left at 4. Didn't count the fish we had before cleaning them in the light rain but it was a full gallon bag of fillets. Wt today was 61 after it got up to 69 yesterday. Technique was double dippin beavers and wooly bees today...Ranger

Ranger, my report is similar to yours; Tore them up right up til around 11am, then they slowed down to an occasional hit. I also cleaned about a gallon of filets while it was raining. Best color was blue and white slab bandit floating beneath a cork 24 inches.
Fished the South end today with Okie Don and his buddy Jarrod...was pretty tough and the water has dirted up some with about 3" visibilty. Wt was 60 to 61 all day too. We so need some sun. We caught our fish today on different banks than I have been fishing and only kept 23. We caught several dinks today as well. Fish were in 5' to 10' DOW and there was really no pattern. Just had to keep moving and hunting. Morning bite was really off and picked up some in the afternoon....Ranger

Well the forecast for Saturday was partly sunny to sunny with the highs in the 70's. Once again I had to relearn the lesson of never believing what a weatherman (or weather woman) says! I had the pleasure of fishing with Mark (aka Ranger09) yesterday for the first time. Since it was suppose to be in the 70's, I only wore a T-shirt. Man, was I regretting that decision all throughout the day! I don't think the temps got out of the 50's and we had a hard North wind most of the day. Not only that, but the water had muddied up a bit from the cold rain the night before. A tough fishing day to say the least.
But like all good guides, Mark persisted until he found us some active fish. This is where a good Guide shines. It would have been easy for most people to say "Oh well, fishing it tough today, let's go home". But not Mark. We ended the day with 23 and there were some really nice fish in the bunch. You can learn a lot more about Crappie fishing on days like this than you can on days when they're jumping in the boat with ya.
We went home with nearly a gallon bag of fillets. Plus we had a good time. Even if we hadn't caught many fish, it was a hoot being in the same boat with Mark. I look forward to the next trip with him!
Spending the week over at the big E. Did real well yesterday evening, went this morning the fish weren't there! Looked deeper shallower etc. Had lunch went and found some new fish, all still full of eggs, water got up to 66 degrees. Biting really good in the afternoon, can't get family moving quick enough to know about the morning bite.
Fished a cove on the north side , close to I40, from 10am Saturday to 10am Sunday. Camped out and fished from the bank. Caught about 6 or 7 in the first hour we were there sat morn, only 2 of those were keepers though. Then we couldn't buy another bite, execpt a random good one in the middle of the afternoon. All caught on minnows. There were several other groups of people with lots of lines in the water only catching a fish or two. Several boats in the area, same story there. We were waiting on a evening bite that never came. Slow Sunday morning as well only one fish, but was the best of the weekend. All females I cleaned still had eggs in em.
