It is SO slow.
Caught a few today from the dock using jigs, no action on minnows. Water temp was 62 and fairly clear. Most crappie bit at a depth of 10 feet and it was a solid bite when they took the jig.
We fished with clients Al, Lance, Kelly, and Nancy today on the South end of Eufaula and kept 52 Crappie. We had 13 over 1.60lb as well. Some males starting to blaclen up some and one female was spewing eggs and had lost some of them. WT was 65 degrees. We caught them from 4' to 9' DOW today. Technique was vertical jigging breal lines, points and wood.....Ranger

Great looking fish Ranger!!
We fished crowder area yesterday from 730-230pm. Fish seemed scattered. A bank fisherman with minnows fishing about 8ft deep seemed to do the best. We were pulling jigs. It was fair. We had an awesome hamburger over at the ArrowHead dock that reopened. The dock fisherman were doing pretty good there on Crazy Angler Cajun Cricket.
That's what I like to see, Ranger!! Those smiles tell me they had a good time!
Great picture Mark! Looks like a few of those would go 2 lbs which is still a magic number for me. Did you get all those folks on your party barge or did EB give you a hand?
OKhunt,
Is the new Arrowhead Dock right where the old one used to be or are you referring to the Area 51 Dock?
If you were driving, you would go into Arrowhead to get to them. There are two docks- $5 a day to fish them. Owner has sunk structure in most the slips.
Fished Friday and Saturday Mid lake. Water temp was 63 to 70 depending on time of day and location. Found male fish in coves and up the creek arms in 10 to 20 inches of water in full black spawning colors with some females on the bank also. Caught over 35 each day with some real nice ones. Didnt matter what you had on, they bit everything.Attachment 158455Attachment 158456Attachment 158457
Thanks for the report Fishers, been waiting all year ,to hear that kind of report!
Redge, its on like Donkey Kong! Well..., that is until the front, but then it will be on again!
Fished Friday evening in crowder and saturday around hwy 9. I caught two crappie and a drum. . . Hardly as fun as donkey Kong !
Fished south end last 2 days caught fish anywhere from 4' up to 6" of water ,, caught some so shallow I would have thought their back should have been out of the water. Mix of both males and females. I Figure this cool front will push em out for couple days....
good luck in the coming weeks guys
We fished Buds point Saturday, wind killed us. Finally ended up with 8 good ones, 1@ 1.75 and another 2.3lbs. Those 2 hit a dead minnow. Weird bite.
My brother and I fished Bud's Point on Friday and like you say, the wind was horrible. Using slip corks in order to get out to the fish buoy, but the wind kept pushing it away. I switched to jigs on the 9ft rod you made me and used a weighted float to get it out close to the buoy. They never started biting and we tried 3 more spots before going to long town for a breakfast bowl. I sure was wanting my lil brother to catch a mess of crappie, oh well. Glad you caught that 2.3 pounder........that's a nice crappie.
How's that breakfast bowl? I was there Sunday morning and wasn't sure if I wanted to try it
Fished Molly brown yesterday morning for 4 hrs. 2 bites. Both on minnows. Both whisker fish. Slow. Slow. Slow
Looking at the weather forecast for Friday....looks like that should be a good day
Whole weekend looks pretty darn good!
Very active bite this morning starting at daylight and lasting til around 8:30, then it shut down like someone flipped the off switch. Mostly dinks and mostly a waste of minnows, but a lot of action for over an hour. Water temp is lower than it was last week at 58 degrees this morning. Water continues to be murky.
Fished Mid and South today. Had 5 Crappie at 12:20pm. Hit all the spots that had been holding fish the last 2 weeks and not a hit. Went looking and saw some fish along the channel break in 8' to 12' and they were pretty stacked up. Dropped 2 rods with jigs and before the second one could get to depth BAM!!!! Sandbass. Thought to self can't be. While laying the second rod down and taking the trash fish off looked up when I heard my rod make a noise. The line was headed up the lake. 1.85 crappie. From 12:22pm to 3:15 I caught 30 with the biggest being a total pig 2.32lb. Had 9 over 1.52 Sure wish I could post pictures from the phone but for some reason it's a zippered file and will not transfer.......Ranger
Are the fish still not on the bank down there?
I'm still fishing from the dock dog, but try other areas as well. Usually tuckers me out to run around searching for a sweet spot, so 90% of my fishing is from my friend's dock. I caught a total of around 35 today with 6 nice keepers. Wind wasn't so bad, not like yesterday and the previous days. Water temp stayed around 60 degrees all day, finally warmed up to 61 when I quit around 7:15pm. They were only hitting minnows and the best depth was 12 feet in 16 feet of water. To answer OKHUNT, they have never really swarmed the bank and the few in my area caught from the bank had no wear and tear on their tails. Eggs are bloody and they're able to spawn, just haven't busted loose yet.

they had hit the bank a week ago before the last cold front. Many reports from both end and mid lake areas of males being caught in 6" of water. Females holding at 3' to 5'. But that was a week ago when water temps were in the mid to upper 60's in the coves and creeks. We caught several that had spawning damage on their bodies such as cuts, tails all busted up or mostly gone, and lots of abrasion marks. Water Temps had fallen back into the mid 50's after the front but will soon warm back up with upcoming warm temps. When that happens the commentment will again happen.......Ranger
hey the family and I are planning to hit Eufaula lake for some crappie fishing all day long tomorrow. does anyone have any pointers on where to fish at to get into some good crappie? We have been fishing lake Claremore and oolagah for the last month and have not had very good luck at all. Last weekend we went to Claremore lake and fished for 15 hours and only caught two crappie the whole time. if anyone could please help us out that would be great. We are starting to get depressed with not having any luck. we have no boat, just bank fishing.
Go to Bug Tussle area....fish in or around the culverts or the timber
I'm thinking I'm going to try Graves creek way up north in the creek. As shallow as that water is it should be plenty warm.
I'll be in Indianola next weekend is there a place a couple guys could get into the sandies or crappie from the bank. Not real familiar with that part I've always fished the 40 bridge and north.
Fished crowder from the bank this morning with my father in law again. Lots of people fishing all around that area. We caught about 20 or so between 6:30-8:30. Mostly pretty small ones but a few decent. nothing to brag about though. Real close to the bank, fishing between 4ft deep to 6". Only 2 were caught on minnows, the rest on jigs. Black/pink slab slayers were the most productive, but we also caught some on black/chart slab slayers and a couple on brownish/chart beavertails.
Fishing report today. People catching fish from shore around Crowder. Real early bite. The boats moved in and the fished moved out. I fished around Bugtussle..wade fishing and fly fishing. Got in the water about 10:00 and got about 12 a little bigger than your hand all males. Bite shut off about noon. Had my thinga-ma-bobber set at about 12" above the fly.
Forgot to mention the water temp at 10:00 measured at 65 F when I got out about 1:30 pm assumed around 70 F. Felt allot warmer
Fished the South End today with clients Keith and McKensie aka MudCat Kirk from Bixby and we cleaned 49. We caught well over 80 today but only keeping quality fish. Biggest today were a pair of twins at 2.01lbs. Technique was double dipping jigs around and over wood in 5' to 9' early with the WT at 60 degrees. As soon as the temps hit 64 they moved shallow. Was a beautiful day and sharing it with some really good people......Ranger
