I would say he wasn't fishing a BoneHead Stick Guard or a Timmy Tom Jig. Almost impossible to fish thick brush without it.....Ranger

That's what I was figuring too.
Fished the north end today had 31 keepers. Casting dragging brushpiles and rock piles in 10-12ft. Blk chart minnow mindrs. No monsters but good fish. EB
Had really nice trip with EB on a really hot day Sunday. Highly recommend guided trip with EB. Thanks for a great day & look forward to many more trips in future. James

You are correct ranger I wasn't fishing either one of those but am planning on ordering the bonehead stick guards. We will see how that works

Ranger how do you rig the stick guard? I got some from Bass Pro looks like would be hard for a crappie get to the hook if rigged per instructions.
Not sure if your question is whether it's hot to fish on the dock or whether the fishing is good. :dono
If you are asking about temp, well, it's a covered dock so as long as there is a breeze, it's not too bad. As far as the fishing being good, I'd have to say, not lately. But I didn't change out the cedar trees like I should have this year either. But I'll keep giving reports when we go down there on the weekends and have some time to fish. Lately I've just been spending time on a raft with my floating ice chest of beer. :cheers2
I believe he was referring to if it was a great crappie fishing dock in the summer.
minnowtime the BP stick guards are to thick and to short. Waste your money buying them. How I use the stick guards (BoneHead) is push the indention on the head over the jigs eye then tie your line on to hold it in place. Insert the point and barb into the end or barrel of the guard. They do wear out and you will have to replace them. I would rather replace a guard than a jig and plastic.......Ranger
I wasted a few bucks at BPS, get some from Bonehead, they work.
Sounds like I need to get ahold of bobo
Just messages him on Facebook. Thanks woodworker
Where can I get minnows near hwy 69/9 intersection? Got several keepers jogging on the dock and need some minnows for the kiddos to catch some!
In the town of Eufaula, I think the marina sells minnows. Otherwise there's a couple of places in Longtown on 9 or farther south on 69 is Crowder and they sell minnows.
I got my bonehead stick guards ordered. Thanks bobo
What is the water like (high-muddy-current) at triangle area as want to fish the 3 bridges mid week?
The water is a little high but clarity is pretty good. They must be pulling water as most any types of fish have pulled off the banks. I saw a couple boats fishing the bridges with minnows and they caught some 6-8" dinks. Water was better in Longtown creek area and saw better fish caught there.
There were a few starting to in some of the Longtown coves.
Fished Saturday 4p-8p on north end. Ended with 29. Double dipping brush. Black/chartreuse and electric chicken where best colors. Dow was 12-20 ft
Took 16 home on Saturday, double dippin' black/chartreuse around bottlenecks to the main lake, 9'-11' down in 12'-14' FOW. None of them had anything in their bellies, I'm guessing this last winter’s shad kill has left them with little to eat.
I had my best luck under 9. Dinks only under 69 and nothing under 9A. Not great at any of them but was hot for awhile so got enough for a fish fry for the group. Best bite was at noon with heavy current. Those using minnows were only catching small dinks
must be slow...no one talkin. We fished under 69 bridge a few weeks ago at night and only had about 3 when we left. Didn't hear anyone say they had caught any.
I concur on the slowness! Might have to sneak over and raid your lake, see if I can't get this thing stirred up! Maybe just posing the idea will get them woke up!
I haven't even fished the last couple of weekends due to how slow it is for everyone I've talked to lately. Our neighbor fished at our dock this past weekend and only caught 2 little dinks for the weekend. Might have to take this opportunity to put out new cedars under the dock and get ready for hopefully a better Fall fishing time.
I talked to Junior the other day and he said he hasn't been down to his dock much lately either. Good to see you post again - I hadn't seen or heard from you lately. I wondered how you had been doing.
Well, if the cedars help for this fall, you'll have to come by and help me pull in all those slabs :fish
we have been fishing the north end last couple of weeks...each time we usually clean 15 to 20 good fish....fishing structure about 8-12 ft deep....pumpkin chartreuse and electric chicken have been the best colors
Anybody been fishing the south end lately?
Got to go out from 2-3:30 today and caught 15 keepers casting and dragging in 8-14ft. Red TimTom Jigheads and blk/chart minnow mindrs. EBAttachment 170955
Glad you got out to clear your head EB, even caught some fish !
As summer winds down, I was wondering what are some general fall patterns on Eufaula. Looking forward to cooler weather.
I don't think this year has fallen under any sort of normal pattern. In general, the fishing has been bad this year. There are good days, but those are few and far between. I think with the winter we had, I feel that has lead to a lot of the issues this year. From the forecasts I'm hearing for this coming winter, it doesn't look like it's going to be much better next year. So if you get on fish, don't leave! Stay there till there are no more fish.
They won't be back around the docks until the water temp has lowered down to the low 70's or lower. Water is just too hot right now.
Anyone fishing the lower end at the Gaines creek area???
