That's the transducer for your Helix 5?? I have the regular 2D GPS combo. Mine doesn't look like that. Is yours a DI unit? If so that would explain the much larger size.

I had the same problem on my Tracker TX 175. It has to be lower that the hull. Put a fiberglass block on bottom of strake and bolted transducer to it. Garmin works fine now. Just have to make sure I don't run aground! From the last picture your transducer isn't low enough.

Went out thismorning and this is all I could get from the fish finder which it wasn't like this yesterday afternoon??

Yes, mine is on the bottom of the boat, screwed to a runner on the bottom. Will be glad to send you a picture, but not sure how to load it. Can we swap emails and do it that way, or if you can tell me how to load a picture then I will try that. Either way.

Not sure, never used one. I noticed that the new trackers, at concord, had the transducer where mine is now located. When I talked to a rep he said they had a lot of complaints about the transducer not reading properly when on full plane. They found this works best on boats like mine. In our conversation he mentioned not to put it too close to the motor due to turbulence from the motor. Mine is mounted to a 3/4 inch piece of material similar to cutting boards. That way I can move it if necessary but I have not had to. I noticed, from your picture, there is a top and bottom piece to your transducer. It is imperative that the bottom part be below the boat. The one who sent a picture of a board running out to the transducer is a good way to make sure it is at the right level. And, if possible put it between the strakes. Good luck and I know your pain--I have been there.

I got cutting board from Walmart today and I cut it in half, jb welded the two halves together then cut it so it's 8" long and 5" tall and it will go between the drain hole and the bunks on the trailer so I can move the transducer anywhere between there! I am also just gonna go ahead and get the transducer as deep as I can get it then just make a piece to go on top to deflect the spray it throws up and I'm hoping that will work...if it doesn't then I'll find a way to mount it on the bottom of the boat

I am replying to your pictures from the fish finder screen. You have the setting on switchfire max mode if I am seeing it correctly. This mode lights up virtually anything. I very rarely use this as it tends to clutter up the screen. That said, it is possible that you may be seeing a thermocline at the 20 ft level.
