Had an issue with losing resolution at higher speeds and freezing up at fast speeds. The dealer that did the install stayed every boat and outboard has a different wash. I would recommend asking those on a tracker forum where they have their transducer mounted. Had mine remounted and fixed the problem but sticks alittle under the boat which means alittle extra spray out the back

An after thought..would a planer board on the motor affect the transducers high speed readings ?

Not sure, never used one. I noticed that the new trackers, at concord, had the transducer where mine is now located. When I talked to a rep he said they had a lot of complaints about the transducer not reading properly when on full plane. They found this works best on boats like mine. In our conversation he mentioned not to put it too close to the motor due to turbulence from the motor. Mine is mounted to a 3/4 inch piece of material similar to cutting boards. That way I can move it if necessary but I have not had to. I noticed, from your picture, there is a top and bottom piece to your transducer. It is imperative that the bottom part be below the boat. The one who sent a picture of a board running out to the transducer is a good way to make sure it is at the right level. And, if possible put it between the strakes. Good luck and I know your pain--I have been there.

I got cutting board from Walmart today and I cut it in half, jb welded the two halves together then cut it so it's 8" long and 5" tall and it will go between the drain hole and the bunks on the trailer so I can move the transducer anywhere between there! I am also just gonna go ahead and get the transducer as deep as I can get it then just make a piece to go on top to deflect the spray it throws up and I'm hoping that will work...if it doesn't then I'll find a way to mount it on the bottom of the boat

    Default Fish finder transducer

On my Tracker I had I placed the transducer 12" to the right of the center of the boat. It gets away from the motor wash. Your transducer should be set where the center of the transducer is even with the bottom of the boat. This will put the bottom of the trams below the boat. The back of the transducer should be set close to 1/4" lower than the front.
I agree about you settings, adjusting it will clear a lot of the clutter.

Looks like to me when planed off youre gonna be in the bubbles. I would guess it needs to be lowered about half the thickness of the tranducer into the water when on plane. Forget the roostertail....get it where it reads. You can also try increasing the sensitivity when running planed off for a better image.

Will do! I glued another cutting board to the transom to mount it on,but the bottom of the cutting board is a little lower than the bottom of the boat so it may drag...think that will be a problem or maybe benefit it to be able to get it lower?

Here's the final product for now I built off the old transducer I had for my other fishfinder it's well below the water line and hopefully will work if not I have the piece of cutting board glue setting on the other side as a back up
