Haven't been out in over a month or so. Caught one of them nasty colds that hung on forever and overtime, overtime, overtime, at work. I know you'll be seeing me pretty soon cause I'll be there. No, I'm still a westsider, but I might elbow my way in on the east side when its on just to have some fun. I've caught some good messes fishin shallow in Blue and Spencer.

Went out yesterday trying to find a place out of the wind and we ended up in Talala creek. Saw several boats catching fish, especially in the morning but nobody was just tearin' them up. Everyone we saw was using minnows. We stopped at the store on the way in but they were out of minnows so we decided to just go with jigs only. We ended up getting on a pattern with roadrunner jigs. We threw jigs up on the bank and drug them close to the bottom searching for brush. The fish we caught were holding on brush anywhere from 11ft - 2ft, with a couple fish on the bank. Several of the males had turned black. The best bite was around 2pm - 4pm, they just shut off after that. The water temp was around 71 degrees when we left. Ended up with about 20 keepers all over 10 inches.
This is the jig we caught most of the fish on. I started rigging weedles with a BG slab slayer to be able to crawl it over the limbs.
Interesting way to rig a roadrunner (like a bass worm) will try it next time out. Thanks for the picture.
Anybody catching them consistently on the bank yet? I'm waiting to hear some good stories before I take a few days off work.
Went Saturday caught 23 keepers. We had one that weighed 2lbs and had some other good ones. Water was 58 degrees early so we fished brush piles in 15 to 17 ft. The crappie were suspended from 8 to 12 ft. Minnows outproduced jigs Saturday. Saw quite a few boats Saturday. Went again on Sunday but the wind was horrible. We caught 6 or 7 on mostly jigs and tried to find a spot out of the wind. Just caught 2 more and gave up around 11:00. Talked to few other guys that caught a few early in the morning and then it shut off. Noticed there wasn't a sole up on Winganon. It's getting better every week. Just guessing, I'd say the full moon later this month should be the time to be on the water.
I tried lightning creek and whatever creek comes off the Verdigris river on the north end of the lake up by 28 on Saturday afternoon. Never got a bite. Still searching for a spot to catch some from the bank until I get my boat back in May.
I fished the Winganon riprap yesterday and had some success until the storm took over. I caught around 25 or so, with a big 5 1/2 to 6 pound Hybrid Striper making things wild on a guy in knee deep water, and a ten foot ultra light jigging rod. Brought home 19 good crappie, with a few jumbo females. But, it was not a steady bite by any means. Just about the time I would think it was going to get good - the fish would not come out and play for long spells. A few boats pulled up and tried it, but didn't have the patience and left after short attempts. When the waves got five feet tall and I was soaked from head to toe, I called it a day and got home just in time to dodge the tornados. I heard good reports the last few days from the shallow bite in Talala creek.
I finally have found time to report. Between track season, mowing grass, garden preparation, work and fishing, I haven't had time to post. By the way, what was I thinking when I fertilized my yard?
4-5-11 I fished Big creek for 8 hours and caught 12 big fish all day.
4-6-11 I fished Lightning creek for 5 hours and caught 14 big males and 2 dinks.
4-10-11 My son and I fished Talala creek from 3-8pm and kept 35 nice fish. 30 males
and 5 females. The fish were in 1-3 fow. Best colors were electric chicken and pump/char.
4-11-11 Me and 2 buddies fished Talala and Spencer creek from 630-1pm and kept 45. They were shallow again 1-3 fow. Same colors.
4-12 My son and I fished Talala and Medicine creek from 5-7pm and caught 2 fish. We figured out why later. The corp had opened the dam up and dropped the lake 6 inches.
4-13 Me and a buddy fished Talala Creek from 630-1pm and kept 51 nice fish. 41 males and 10 females. No really big fish. Electric chicken and blk/pink with bright pink head was the best. The fish were scattered from 1-10 fow. I think the falling water had a lot to do with it. They shut the dam off yesterday so the fish should move back to the bank.
Track meet yesterday and work today. Hope the weather warms back up. The shallow bite should be back on big time.

Common sense isn't always that common!
Anyone have a picture of the Electric Chicken color / jig??
