Another beautiful day on Gibson. Cleaned another limit of 30 big ole crappie today and caught em on several different plastics and tied jigs. WT was 69 when we started and got up to 74 when we left at 4:30. Talked to some more crappie.com.'ers when we were coming in and they were catching a few too. Had some really nice fish today as well with 1 topping out at 2lb........RangerName: 10-2-12 Gibson.jpg

Fished the upper end for 4 hours today caught 10 kept 9. First time I have done well on Gibson (third time I have tried to catch crappie there). 5 of the 9 were over 12", with one really nice fish. The cool thing was I was catching them in 18" of water in the sticks, just like spring fishing. There are 1" to 1-1/2" shad everywhere, lots right on the bank in just a few inches of water. The biggest crappie I caught had mud all over its belly. I was using BG baby shad in blue ice. I was fishing with my 12' pole, dipping into likely spots. The Crappie were just hammering it, lots of bluegill biting but they just pecked at it, if there was a crappie home you knew it. If I had known where the lay downs and stumps were instead of having to search for them I would have been able to clean up. As aggressive as they were it would have paid to cover lots of water. Almost every likely spot had one good crappie. When the front hit at 4:30 they shut off.

I was able to get out yesterday around noon and fish Gibson. We ended up cleaning 25, we had 5 pigs pigs but threw them back for the tournaments They told me they would bite on tournament day, they promised so I let them go! LOL The fish were spread out all over the place we caught some in less than 3 ft and some over 20 ft. You just had to get in the right spot! I love fishing Gibson this time of year especially in the next month when the trees start to turn and it really looks like fall on the grand river! It's beautiful! EB

I'm sure you can trust those pigs to keep their word but how do you prevent Ranger from catching them before game day? As for me if I recognize your tail notch back in they go!

George he can't trust me cause I caught em today...lol....Fished today and the WT was 63 when I unloaded in the fog at 7:30 and foggy it was. Cleaned 2 limits again today (30) and like EB stated the fish were scattered and again I caught em in 5' to 20' DOW. Had 9.13lbs today with our biggest 7.
