Fished the upper end for 4 hours today caught 10 kept 9. First time I have done well on Gibson (third time I have tried to catch crappie there). 5 of the 9 were over 12", with one really nice fish. The cool thing was I was catching them in 18" of water in the sticks, just like spring fishing. There are 1" to 1-1/2" shad everywhere, lots right on the bank in just a few inches of water. The biggest crappie I caught had mud all over its belly. I was using BG baby shad in blue ice. I was fishing with my 12' pole, dipping into likely spots. The Crappie were just hammering it, lots of bluegill biting but they just pecked at it, if there was a crappie home you knew it. If I had known where the lay downs and stumps were instead of having to search for them I would have been able to clean up. As aggressive as they were it would have paid to cover lots of water. Almost every likely spot had one good crappie. When the front hit at 4:30 they shut off.
