Here's my plan.
1: Ban single pole fishing especially during the spawn. These inconsiderate fishermen are catching vulnerable spawning fish out of their spawning grounds.
2: Put a season on residents only. They catch way more of MY fish out of MY lake every year than I do.
Residents will only be allowed to fish in months ending in "R"
3: Non-residents are allowed to fish anytime they want. Size and possession limits are merely suggestions and not set rules for Burfordville fishermen.
4: Speck is allowed to carry two washing machines in his truck this year due to last years drought conditions affect on his fillet sales.
5: Non resident permits will be free the 4th year after purchasing permits for 3 consecutive years.
6: Anyone who disagrees with these rules is a low rent no good green carp fisherman who kicks puppies.
Mr. Green Jeans, I know you follow this forum so if you read this, it is mostly in jest.

You are correct but can assure you nothing will change before next year, just not how it works. The commission is done with this as far as decisions till next year. We got to get our foot in the door and be heard and known, then be ready when they start considering next years regs. Regs are set each year by a certain time as to get the Digest printed, one reason they just ammended the intent and did not re-issue it. By the way, they were well inside the guidelines of intents in what they did, think I actually mentioned that it could happen that way when they issued the first intent. 2 or 3 years ago there were some hunting intents that kept getting re-issued and the Digest barely came out before the Fall hunting seasons, doubt we will see this happen again.
We got to get together tho, not argue among ourselves like we often do (all of us, not just me and you Chaney). Single-polers and trollers alike, heck we are all fisherman and the single polers dont want to see a proposal to close crappie fishing during the spawning season, they'd have a heart attack.

This is the type of thing that happened at Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) in Arkansas for duck hunting during the course of several years. My list is not all-inclusive and only serves as an example of how things progressed.
1. Went from lead to steel shot.
2. All day hunting was reduced to half-day to end at 1200 noon and out of the woods no later than 1300. Exception made for last week of last season of the year.
3. No guided hunts are allowed due to "pressure" from non-residents.
4. Decoys could not be left out overnight
5. No clearing of undergrowth in hunting holes before season
6. Draw hunts on some WMAs--not even if you are first one there, you aren't guaranteed a spot to hunt.
7. Duck blinds were forbidden to hunt out of in 2 areas that I know of personally. They are supposed to be disposed of and removed or AGFC will burn it down for you.
8. Shell limit including 25 shells and shot size on central AR WMAs.
You see where I am going with this. AGFC had public meetings but not sure they heard the crowd against all of the restrictions. I am not sure if there was unbiased scientific data to substantiate the rule changes or not. I can tell you that I no longer hunt the public ground in Arkansas that I did for 30 years because of all the changes made due to "pressure" and other buzz words.
I see this as a start to further regulation changes akin to the Duck Hunting rule changes in Arkansas. There are many great folks from all over the area but some groups have more "political" clout and money than the one's who are most negatively affected by the perceived arbitrary changes.
I am a supporter for the cause to keep the pole limit the same. Make your VOICE heard and stand up for your rights as taxpayers, sportsmen/women and CRAPPIE enthusiasts.
Just my thoughts on the matter...............................
Not trying to argue.....I have seen it happen several times through the years....if they get enough flack and get enough pressure....I have seen them make changes without waiting to the next year.....think about it, you have seen it too....they will change after the digest is printed out... have seen that before, then you have all the radio and tv announcements, and newspaper notices, signs at the ramp etc. etc. telling of the change ........also....not all of the rules are always in the digest either and that shouldn't be but it is. And while I am gripeing....why can't MS. write their rules where they are easier to understand.....some of them are something else the way they are written.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Could be right G, we will see. It would take an enormous amount of pressure to get a change done this year but we can sure try. Key here is not to piss off the folks making the final decision, do that and we have no strength.
