No, "G", I haven't spoken to him on this particular topic. I was pointing out that no biological data was referenced in the news release.

Ok....thanks for clearing that up. From the folks with MDWFP that I have talked with here local...their recomendations were made based on some scientific studys and also input from the fisherman that sent in input or attended the public meetings that were held around the state. I guess next time we all need to either sumbit our feelings by mail or phone and try to attend these meetings. I have no problem with the 11 inch length or the 15 fish limit.....but I disagree and see no reason whatsoever for the pole limit.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Thought my post was pretty clear. I have great respect of Mr. Garavelli. All I said was that there wasn't any biological studies/data referenced. Until they present such data, this will remain a squeaky wheel.

    Default Sardis Rod Limit

I think 4 poles a person is acceptable since they make the standard t bars with 4.

I agree....Somebody please tell me how reducing the number of poles help? Think about: If the limit is 15 crappie, what does it matter if I use 6 poles or 1 pole?

Changing the number of poles changes nothing, only MLL and quantity.

Ask for the data. Data is not always included in news reports about new laws....I know this from being employed with the Mississippi Forestry Commission for 30 years

Here are some figures taken from the websites of the six states in this region.
These are the prices of hunting and fishing licenses of these states for NON-RESIDENTS.

    Mississippi: Hunting $390.87
    Fishing $54.29

    Alabama: Hunting $287.45
    Fishing $48.00

    Tennessee: Hunting $251.00
    Fishing $41.00

    Kentucky: Hunting $130.00
    Fishing $50.00

    Arkansas: Hunting $300.00
    Fishing $40.00

    Missouri: Hunting $450.00
    Fishing $42.00

What I am going to do and I think everyone of us needs to do....is everyone call Garavellis office and request scientific data in writeing. The more that does it the better. It will show that there is a lot of us concerned and want to know. It might just make a point. The more the better.
