Caught a dozen good eaters today in about 8 ft of water. Nothing big just solid 11 to 13 inch fish. Off before the wind kicked up. Struggling to find good fish this weekend.

I'm with you on the struggles. I expected to do much better. It might just be my crappie skills. The wind was rough today

I was on Barkley but didn't have any luck. Saw several guys spider rigging and a few fishing fallen trees adjacent to deep water.

I'm starting to think the only way to fish ky lake is spider rig. I luv single pole fishing because of the thump but I'm tired of getting my behind whooped on the lake .

I agree, and I'm going to rig my boat up to spider rig. My thoughts on spider rigging are mixed though, I was raised on single pole type fishing. Both Barkley and Ky Lake are lakes that call for a trolling method for crappie IMO.

Everyone has rights to their own opinion and thoughts. I was raised on single and two polling, the thump and being able to feel the slightest nibble or them sucking the jig in.

I for one will never spider rig. My personal feelings is that its more commercial than pleasure and nothing really sporting about it. Also, I believe its hurting the fishery. Is it really about bragging rights at work or is it about the quality time you have with friends, family or the solitude when fishing alone.

And there is more brush, stake beds, pallets and natural breaks and ridges in our lakes to give the crappie fisherman many angles to catch fish. These lakes are a natural crappie habitat but if our society of got to have it now, my time is precious, and gotta beat Joe Bob on Facebook and tweet this picture to Fred and Steve and all the rest........spider riggers will permanently damage our natural resource that not just your sportsmans dollar goes too but mine as well.
