Just checking on a small 40 acre reservoir just out of Stanford I found on the map and the KY F&W site. The Stanford Reservoir...anybody know it? Drove down this eve and thought I might see what's up later.
Anyone?

Hey goochie...should i spend a day there if I got a craving for crappie filets? I hear they stock trout there but that dont interest me much.
Not much info about it other than it's electric only, lotta snakes and 2 10 lb bass live there :-)
I used to fish it every once in a while. Never for crappie though. Caught some decent bass there.
Can you put a boat on it?
yea tm only
Really nice ramp maintained by KY F&W apparently. Good road all the way in. Clean around the area. Not a soul around on the bank or on the water when I was there looking at it. Sign says going in that the gate is closed from dusk to dawn but I'm gonna ask somebody near there at the waterworks dept if they adhere to that. Hate to get locked in if I was fishing late. Thinking about sliding a 2-man in there on Monday and feel around the bush since I can't find any info pertaining to crappie in the place. And Gooch is right on...electric only.
Shoulda took a shot of the ramp but it's a nice ramp...you could launch with a car even if a guy didn't have a truck.
What kinda nest is this on the ground? The poor goose or pterodactyl that laid these must have butt problems...huge eggs. I'm guessing probably 5 inches long or better.
Shot across the lake from the ramp.

I live right next to this lake and have walked over and fished it for years and it has some big timber rattlers that call it home. If you catch a crappie my hat is off to you.......It does have some good ......very smart Bass and you will get a good bluegill or two from It late may or June but in all my years of fishing it I have yet to see a crappie caught or caught one. Cedar Creek lake is right up the road and as plenty of crappie and fishermen.

Thanks, DeadAim. I know about Cedar Creek but last few years, the crappie were small. Maybe that's changing from what i hear. I'm always seeking out lesser populated areas to spend my fishing time and Cedar Creek resembles major metropolitan area sometimes. Had a guy email me saying there was crappie in the Stanford lake but what you say has got me re-thinking my pursuit.
