Good thing I sugar coated it! But I still never needed the net.......
Yall ate the whole jig. And no minners were harmed!!!!!
nice mess
I spider rig through the winter and cast and single pole through the spring , I agree that a limit is a limit and how ever you catch them is fine
but my argument is when the fishing is good spider rigging or pulling with so many poles makes it very easy to catch your limit quick and I hear ( through the grapevine. ) of so many that don't stop there ! It's not uncommon to hear of people catching 2,3 or even 4 limits a day !
I have even heard of people taking 200-250 crappie home a weekend !
We all know of people like this and I know a few people spoil it for everyone else but I feel if they had a limit of 2-3 poles per person it would be a lot harder to take so many illegal fish and it would help our fishery tremendously. !!!!!
The wardens do there best but the number of illegal fish taken is rediculous !!!
I know I'm not the only person who has heard of this .

Guns are not even relevant to the discussion.
How many thugs do you see holding up bait and tackle stores using a 14' trolling rod?????
"Give me the money or ill put a jig in your a......!"
Just a simple post here. Fished Barkley and Kentucky lakes yesterday and today. There are still plenty of us who don't have limits to worry about. Lol!
I think the point here is we have a tendency to blame the tool as opposed to laying the responsibility for the crime on the individual committing the crime. The number of poles is not the issue. It is the behavior of those who chose NOT to follow the laws that have been establish in regards to size and numbers.
Just because you go out and hang a bunch of poles over the bow or stern of your boat doesn't guarantee fish. There a day that I can do better 2 pole'n. I can't count the times I have out fished 2/3 of the spider riggers in a bay by 2 pole'n. Some days that's the better way to fish.
My issue is where do you draw the darn line when you start limiting poles. Should we outlaw jugging and trotlines? How about banning the use of minnows. Some believe live bait is an advantage. I know... Let's ban any lure that has the color Chartreuse in it since that is a favorite color for crappie and it MIGHT give someone an unfair advantage. Heck... Lets start deer hunt'n with rocks. I can kill a deer with a rock if I hit him right. We could make that another law but you can bet your sweet a.., sooner or later, there'd be some knothead want'n to tell me what type of and how biga rock I could use.
The darn poles ain't the problem its the dishonest people. Quit make'n excuses for'um!
It's a slippery slop folks.

I am a 2 poler, will cast every now and then. Don't spider rig, will not long line, ever.
I have tried spider rigging but it ain't for me.
Good spider fishermen are some of the most skilled out there. Nothing wrong with any legal method. Just go and have fun, can't worry about what the fleet is doing.
Wiskers, I see your point. Ask yourself this, why do some of the top lakes in Mississippi have pole limits? They also happen to have either 11" or 12" minimum, and are in the top 5 best crappie lakes in the U.S.
They also have feet on the ground patrolling and take it very serious. Our state needs more of the same. Our locals needs to learn to read a tape measure, gold rule or crappie scale. Some of the biggest offenders are our own. And knowing the regulations.
Someone made a reference to duck hunting earlier that got me to thinking. Many moons ago, the market gunners were running rampant, unlimited shells and everything else. Regulations and limits were put in place to protect the resource. Present day, our waterfowl guns may only hold 3 shells, so what's the difference if you were allowed 3 rods???
Each game species these arguments can be made whichever they may be. Sportsmanship and honesty go along way, and our children and grandchildren will only benefit from us following and teaching these principles on down the line.
