Is it really about bragging rights at work or is it about the quality time you have with friends, family or the solitude when fishing alone.

And there is more brush, stake beds, pallets and natural breaks and ridges in our lakes to give the crappie fisherman many angles to catch fish. These lakes are a natural crappie habitat but if our society of got to have it now, my time is precious, and gotta beat Joe Bob on Facebook and tweet this picture to Fred and Steve and all the rest........spider riggers will permanently damage our natural resource that not just your sportsmans dollar goes too but mine as well.
While I respect your right to your opinion, I think it is wrong and it will be fishermen complaining about other fishermen and their ways of fishing that will end up getting our rights to fish the way we please to be taken away from those of us who chose to fish differently than you do.

band chaser i was like you grew up one pole one jig, one fish at a time. IMO that's still the best way to do it and thats how i do it when conditions are right. i said the same things spider rigs seemed like cheating and that it wasnt for me. however i'd never been so this was all preconceived notion and bias on my part. a friend asked me to go to mississippi one day and spider rig a weekend in february. i figured it beats sitting inside all weekend what the heck. we went and caught quite a few nice fish, and i've been hooked ever since.

if u were to go duck hunting and only take a dozen decs with you, but the guy next to you was using 12 dozen, he kills out and you dont. would you go back the next day to the same place and only use a dozen decs again or would you take 12 dozen? like crappie hoarder says a limit is a limit doesn't matter how you get it as long as it's legal. if your not willing to keep an open mind and give something new a try that's your call, but if you wanna go kill your mallards and it takes 12 dozen decs, you can bet your butt i will have out 12 doz.

we are all out there for the same reasons to catch fish and enjoy the outdoors it's not a competition unless you pay to enter or you make it that way. just keep an open mind and give new tactics a try you never know how much fun you may have. plus filling up a cooler makes you feel pretty darn good, and then you can invite your facebook friends over for cold beers and hush puppies!

If the limit is 20 crappie over 10", what difference does it make how you take them as long as you don't use dynamite?
Everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer!

A limit is a limit. Nothing "commercial" about it.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Why is it never proposed to lower the limit if people are so concerned about the population of crappie? Instead they would rather stop multipole methods. Me personally, I accept that on a given day one method of fishing will work better. I don't really enjoy single polling and will sell my boat if trolling is ever stopped. Getting back to the original topic, I fished both Barkley and Kentucky yesterday and ended up with five.

I have always been a 1 or 2 pole fisherman. The problem with that is I also love involving others including my wife and daughter in the sport. After trying spider rigging this month I can see a way to get them involved in catching rather than just opening the live well for me. One problem I have in Missouri is how we have allowed us to work around the 3 pole max per person by just putting name/address on extra poles and calling them limb lines like we were catching catfish. That just being said I am just setting up for an 8 pole spider rig. Still I thing more people being introduced to the sport of fishing is good for all involved. This is a possible step towards other techniques for any beginner.
God bless Charlie Brewer and Bobby Garland.

I like feeling the "thump" too but have no problem with people who choose to fish differently. I've had friends who used to cast 90% of the time who now troll, spider rig, etc. Guarantee you, most of these people are just as protective of the resource as we are. We have to be because if we don't, eventually we will lose it. Invasion of Asian carp is a good example. Everybody had better be concerned.

To each, his own. We all have a preferred way of doing things but sometimes the dadgum crappie won't cooperate.
