Well, rickie I first thought that it was usps, but after the second one and the condition of the box, with all of the tears and the tape .I'm thinking this is motorguide.it looks to me , by looking at the stickers on the end of the box that they used the same box to return the new trolling motor in.

I have watched the guys at the Post Office take my package that was marked fragile all over it and throw it across the room into a container. I was livid.

For what those cost they can afford a new box, and a well constructed one at that!

In the first box, there's a plastic bag that's supposed to be over the lower unit.the bag was in the box, but it wasn't covering the lower unit.if you look at the picture of the first trolling motor, there's card board in bedded in that crack. (The plastic wasn't between the card board and the lower unit) the second trolling motor did have the plastic covering the lower unit but that card board that was supposed to be there to help protect the lower unit wasn't even in the box.

Send it back and get a Minnkota. You won't regret it. Those motors are not built near as strong as Minnkota and their customer service is marginal. Some say the spot lock feature is better, but I have no problem with my Minnkota in conditoins suitable for it. The MG isnt in the same league when it comes to trolling. I fish my Riptide St in heavy tidal waters and can hit spot lock on a redfish hookup and when fish is landed I am off the oyster bars and where I dropped the lock. On a gusty day it works more and drifts a lot more depending on the draft of the boat and strength of the motor. I hate to see some one stuck with a $1500-2000 motor that won't stack up to a motor from another company in same price range. I hope they didn't charge you shipping twice.

Kos, this is just my opinion. I think both motors were shipped from a dealer & not from MG. Did you send the first one back to the dealer or directly to MG?

I have owned 3 MK Terrovas and none of the 3 were not even close to the Xi5 in staying a on a spot.

Two of my fishing partners, and you know both, have done extensive test with the MK Spot Lock feature while the boat was on the trailer. It consistently took 18' of moving away from the spot for the motor to react.

That is too far away from a brush pile for us crappie fishermen.

I agree that the MK is a well built motor but the spot lock feature is not what it should be.

Again, my opinion, I would not send a trolling motor via USPS period.
