I have owned 3 MK Terrovas and none of the 3 were not even close to the Xi5 in staying a on a spot.

Two of my fishing partners, and you know both, have done extensive test with the MK Spot Lock feature while the boat was on the trailer. It consistently took 18' of moving away from the spot for the motor to react.

That is too far away from a brush pile for us crappie fishermen.

I agree that the MK is a well built motor but the spot lock feature is not what it should be.

Again, my opinion, I would not send a trolling motor via USPS period.
Don, I ordered it through brian, at bbgmarine. Brian was nothing but very very helpful throughout the hole transaction.acually , he apologized for the trouble I've had and also wanted me to send the second trolling motor back.i no that this is not brians' fault.I ordered through brian, but he never acually sees the trolling motor.my first tracking location for the first trolling motor was Lakewood, N.J.
The first tracking location on the second trolling motor was from Secaucas, N.J.

I think Brian ships some of the things he sells from one or more distributors. I know we buy a lot from Ellett Brothers. In saying this, I firmly believe that this was neither Brian's fault nor Motor Guide's fault but lies in the hands of the distributor.

You do realize the MK takes a few minutes to settle in. It drops waypoints in multiple directions to create a 5 foot circle. You can not test it on the trailer. I agree it is not made for vertical jigging and MG maybe better for this. The feature does work as it was intended. I use spot lock a lot when striper fishing heavy current below local dams and it holds me right where I drop when it has time to settle. As long as it has enough thrust to overcome current.

Not doubting your word, but my 3 never did this no matter how much time I sat there.

I just talked with Mark, a tech with MK @ 800-227-6433, as I was concerned why my MK didn't drop multiple waypoints . He told me that the MK Spot Lock worked off 1 waypoint & only 1 waypoint.

I am not one of the Brand loyal folks. If MK comes out with a better spot lock, I will probably own one..................but not at the present time.
