Odie, I've often wondered about a still jig and have tried it in the past without much success. But I've watched others keep it perfectly still and catch fish. I guess it all depends on the mood of the fish and it takes time to figure that out at times. Thanks for your report and info, Stink

I fear no fish
The Oologah bite has been solid for the last month plus some. I haven't had time to wet a jig, but a friend has been getting a limit on a regular basis. Get out if you can and try several piles until you hit the mother load. Averages have been anywhere from 11" to 14" in size with very few smaller fish caught.

I got out yesterday around 1030 and fished until 4. I had to fight the wind most of the day which made it tough to stay on the brush piles, especially when I forgot to load my bouy markers back in the boat.I caught fish on almost every brush pile, but couldn't catch more than 6-8 on any one pile. I caught most of my fish in 17-20 FOW fishing 12-17 feet deep. Best colors were blue/white baby shad and blk/char beavertail. I caught about 45 fish and kept 20. My biggest fish weighed 1lb 15ozs and my best 7 weighed 10lbs 7ozs. I will post pictures later, I left my camera at home.

My 2 biggest: 1-15 and 1-12
My biggest 7 weighed 10-7

Common sense isn't always that common!
hitting the lake friday morning bright and early. Hoping to fill the boat. If the weather hasn't got them shut down.

If I can get my darned outboard running right I'd like to get up there sometime while I'm off for Christmas.

fished most of the day..caught a few (4) dinks..1 keeper. Took my underwater camera. Saw 100 fish (really) sitting around and in deep brush pile. Could not get 1 to bite a damn jig....hope everyone else had better luck than we did. They prolly were wanting minnows and I didn't have them.

I can honestly say that this is my favorite time of year to crappie fish. We were on the lake by 8:00 and off by 2:30. It was a frosty morning with a cold North wind, but the sun came out later and made it tolerable. We caught only 2 keepers on the first spot we tried and decided to move to to having to fight the wind. The next spot we went to back in the creek, never got a bite. We went back out to the main lake and found lots of shad on the locator, we caught one using the trolling motor and decided to anchor in about 32 foot of water right on a ledge. We made casts into about 22ft of water and slowly retrieved back and starting tearin' 'em up. We caught fish on every cast for an hour or so and then it slowed back down. We ended up with 34 keepers between the two of us. The lake has been pretty stable for awhile now and is making for some good fishing.
Fanatic I thought I saw you leaving as I was getting to ramp around 2pm. Talked to one guy who caught quite a few but said they quit biting on him. I fished piles around 18-20 ft. Caught one keeper and gobs of dinks. I used minners. Probly shoulda got there earlier but wondered how u did. This was the first time I had boat out since deer season started.
Eufaula Boy came up to fish with me today. We got on the water after 10am and fished until 130p. The first hour and a half we caught 1 fish. We then used the locator to go up and down an area out of the wind. We found 3 small brush piles in 17-20 FOW and threw out a bouy. We looked for over 1/4 of a mile further and found nothing. We went back to the area where the bouy was at 1130 and I caught a 12 inch fish the first drop. We put 30 fish in the live well in 30 minutes then added 15 in the next hour. We finished the day with 46 fish over 10 inches, with several over 12 inches. We never caught a throwback, they were all keepers. I don't remember ever not catching a throwback. The fish were suspended over the brush about 12-14 feet deep. We used jigs, the best set up was a white crappie pro head with a blue/white baby shad or blue/white wasshoppa. The weather men were way off on the wind today, 8-12 mph was predicted, it was more like 18-20. Going back out tomorrow if the wind isn't too bad.
