I can honestly say that this is my favorite time of year to crappie fish. We were on the lake by 8:00 and off by 2:30. It was a frosty morning with a cold North wind, but the sun came out later and made it tolerable. We caught only 2 keepers on the first spot we tried and decided to move to to having to fight the wind. The next spot we went to back in the creek, never got a bite. We went back out to the main lake and found lots of shad on the locator, we caught one using the trolling motor and decided to anchor in about 32 foot of water right on a ledge. We made casts into about 22ft of water and slowly retrieved back and starting tearin' 'em up. We caught fish on every cast for an hour or so and then it slowed back down. We ended up with 34 keepers between the two of us. The lake has been pretty stable for awhile now and is making for some good fishing.
