I was able to make it out the O yesterday. It was such a beautiful day, sunny with light south winds...we get so few days like that in Oklahoma, and they usually don't fall on a Saturday for some reason. We checked several brush piles on the south end without much luck until we found a spot loaded with shad. We started tearing the sand bass up. I don't like to keep them, but they sure are fun to catch on light tackle. Eventually the Sand bass moved out and we started catching Crappie. We caught some in the brush, but most of them were caught making long casts and dragging the jig on or near bottom right along the drop off, like they were just cruising along the edge of the channel. The fish were holding deep - around 30ft. We caught TONS of dinks but every now and then we would catch a nice keeper. I set the hook on a light bite and something started ripping my drag and wouldn't come up off the bottom. About 5 minutes later I was able to get it up to the top and ended up being a nice 15lb blue cat which joined the crappie in the livewell. We ended up with a nice mess...close to 30 crappie between the two of us. The water was around 42 degrees I believe.
