Crappie Wall Hanger II
Great lookin mess of fish there guys. Sounds like you guys found em clustered up tryin to stay warm. I'm not surprised, you guys are like a duck on a junebug when it comes to findin crappie. I'm off work for the next 5 days, so I'm planning on gettin out there with y'all. My dad is suppose to come up from Henryetta and fish with me on Friday, so if you see us stop by an say hi.

Hello gentlemen. I'm new on here. It sounds like you guys are all pretty accomplished crappie fishermen. I was wondering if there is a map or some sort of information that can be studied to find productive brush piles or structure on Eufuala and Ft. Gibson? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What a beautiful day on the lake. The wind was a lot better today and kept laying throughout the day. We got a late start due to boat trouble. My buddy wanted to take his boat out since it hadn't been ran for a few months, but it wouldn't start. We went back to my house and got mine. We finally got out around 10am and started on some familiar brush in 17 FOW. First drop I caught a 14 inch slab, then it was just a bite every few minutes with several small fish mixed in. We just kept moving around in that first area in about a fifty foot circle. If we were in 17 FOW we fished 12-14 feet deep, if we moved out to 22 FOW we had to fish 17-18 feet deep. We fished 6 different brush piles today in a half mile stretch in 17- 24 FOW and caught fish on every pile. By far the best color combo was white crappie pro head with blue/white baby shad, but we did catch a few on cajun cricket and electric chicken. We caught over 100 fish today and kept 65 over 10 inches, with over half of them being over 12 inches. Our 2 biggest were almost 15 inches long and weighed 1 3/4. We quit at 330pm and headed home. We saw several boats out today and everyone seemed to be catching fish. My best advice is to find brush in at least 17 FOW and fish a few inches over the top of it. If you dont get bit after fishing around it for a 5-10 minutes, move to another pile. Don't be afraid to try different depths of water and different depths you are holding your bait. The fish have been biting immediately if they are there.
One crazy thing did happen today. My buddy was struggling to catch fish for the first 2-3 hours, then I noticed he was hooking his baby shad upside down from what I was hooking mine. I told him how I hooked mine and he changed his to match mine. He immediatly started catching them just as fast as I was. We were both amazed that it made that much of a difference. Going again Friday if the wind cooperates.

At first glance, I thought that was a 20 oz bottle! However, after gawking at those crappie for a few seconds, I realized that it was a 12 oz bottle. Very nice mess of crappie!!!

LOL!!! I didn't have any 20 oz bottles in my ice chest, but those are 13-15 inch crappie.

OK, I need a little help here. I have never fished Oologah in my 47 yrs. My son has just purchased a house near Collinsville and he is wanting to go fishing on Oologah. All I am needing help with is a good save ramp to unload at and we will do the rest. I am not asking for your favorite fishing spot just simply a save place I don't have to worry about the truck being left.

Odie you sure give great info about your day of fishing. But two questions if you do not mind. What kind of locator do you have to find those brush piles? Do you not always put the dark color of jig on top? Thinks

Crappie Jiggin, there's plenty of safe ramps on the lake. Being from Collinsville you'll be closer to the ramps on the west side of the lake. The safest one is probably the ramp at the dam, or at the ramp at Redbud Bay marina. There's several more further North, Sunnyside ramp, Tallala creek (vada point), and Allens point at Winganon.

Got a chance to fish Thursday and Friday. Went solo Thursday and fished with my dad on Friday. Brought home 12 keepers Thursday and 11 Friday. Never really found any concentrations of fish either day. Moved around to a lot of different brush piles all over the place, but never really found a sweet spot. Lots of boats out both days, everybody was enjoying the nice weather. I sure had a good time fishin with my dad, learned a few things as usual, and we caught enough both days to make a couple of big crappie suppers. It don't get much better than that.

I took my son out Friday morning and my buddy took his son. The NW wind was a challenge to say the least. They got about a 30 min headstart on us and it turned out to be a crucial 30 minutes. They had 10-12 in the boat by the time we got to them. We started catching them fairly consistent also for about 30-45 minutes. It was not enjoyable though because of the wind. I had my trolling motor on 60% and had to use it often. Then another friend of mine calls me and he is broke down on the lake. I left and went and towed him back to the ramp costing me another hour of fishing. By the time I got back the bite had slowed and the wind increased. I caught a couple more and decided the wind was too bad in that area and left for calmer waters. My buddy left for home with over 30 nice fish but only a couple of Big fish. I had 9 nice fish but nothing over 12 inches. I took my son and boat home and got in the boat with Eufaula Boy and 2 of his friends after lunch. They had fished the rip rap at Winganon and had 5 fish when I got in. We fished from the dam, Skull Hollow, Will Rogers Point, Goose Island, Blue Creek, and caught 1 crappie about 5 inches long and quit at 5pm. Another friend of mine and his on fished from noon until 5pm and had 9 also. He said they fished Goose Island, Spencer Creek, Talala Creek and Winganon. Very humbling day for all of us. I think the wind played a huge factor due to not being able to hold still and putting slack in our lines. The fish are not just whacking it right now and it is hard to feel bites with slack. The south end of the lake is as clear as I have ever seen it, with about 2 feet visibility.
We did meet some fellow crappie.com guys at the Redbud boat ramp. I think the guy said he was fish.on or fish.on2. They fished from 3-5 and had 3. So all in all it was a tough day for everyone, but it beat sitting at home.
Jiggin, any of the ramps Kevin mentioned are safe. I think the safest are Hawthorne and Redbud, they are closest to the marina and Corp of Engineer Office and get patrolled regularly.
Minnowtime, I have a Lowrance 27c at the console and a OLD Lowrance 75 on the trolling motor. I have all the corp brushpiles loaded into the 27 as well as my own piles I have built and ones I have found out looking.
If the wind lays I will be back out Monday.
