I hit the lake yesterday evening for a couple of hours with a buddy. We fished brush in 10 foot of water with minnows and ended up cleaning 20.

I have fished Oologah for the last few months. Blue, spencer & talala. I haven't had any luck other than one or two keepers per trip. I don't know what I am doing wrong but I fish the brush ( whenI can find it ). I usually fish 7 am til 2 or 3. Not giving up yet but it appears that most posters have good success on oologah.

They're in there Sparky. What depths of brush have you been fishing? Do you have a gps locator? Are you using minnows or jigs? Have you spent the summer fishing back in the creeks or further out towards the lake?

Brush depths of anywhere from 3-16 ft. I have been back in the creeks and out to the mouths. Have covered alot of water. I don't have structure scan but I do have a lowrance unit that is about 5 years old. I have spent a little time learning how to find brush. Im still learning that part of it. Up to this point I have only been using jigs- maribou, bobby garland plastics, crappie tubes and road runners. Trying those in several colors.

well made it out around 3 today got off the water right at dark. put in at blue creek and all i can say is disappointing. granted i am very new to crappie fishing we have some corp piles loaded up on the navionics app for i phone. we have a 100 dollar fish finder . we were able to locate the structure put out a marker buoy then anchor down around it and nothing we tried all different structure at all depths from 8 ft 20 ft we have no trollling motor just 5 hp outboard. just hoping some one can enlighten me. i see all of you guys killin them regularly mad respect to all you real fisherman. jake

Don't feel bad Jake, I put in at Hawthorne around 2 and ended up with three that would keep. Talked to another guy that caught 10. I very rarely venture out of the Talala Creek area, but with the lake level down, vada point ramp is in bad shape. I didn't have any trouble finding brush, but there were few fish to be had. It will get better once the water cools down some more and they start bunching up.

Sparkey, I feel ya. I just started crappie fishing this spring. If had not caught the easy spawning fish I prob would have quit crappie fishing altogether. It drove me mad to read the reports on the forum (often still does). To hear all the people catching 30 a day, 50 a day etc, and me, 2 or 3 keepers. Three things I found out after the spawn: 1. crappie bite light (yes that was a fish, lol) 2. slow down, we're not bass fishing here 3. confidence that the fish are biting somewhere, brushpiles at a certain depth, standing timber at a certain depth, rocky shorelines ect. I am a completely green behind the ears when it comes to crappie so this is by no means holy advice, just what I have observed. Hope it helps you. By the way, I think the guys that keep 30+ a day have secret brush piles that only they know about, just a theory, but it helps me sleep at night.
