Fished blue creek yesterday from 9 - 2:00 PM. Caught only two keepers. When they did bite it was a very hard thump. I could not believe the large numbers of shad I saw on the surface. There were huge 10 foot diameter clouds of them everywhere. The fish were definitely getting their fill. I tried throwing road runner
jigs into the schools hoping to get a strike, but no luck. Caught fish on large minnows.

Took an 86yrs young friend with me today and we managed 16 keepers. We fished mostly brush 12 to 8ft deep with minnows, hit and run. Instead of the 5 or 6 per pile we would only manage 0 to 2. Using minnows and started on the south side of kite hill and moved towards blue creek as the day progressed. Only got a couple of bites after 12:00pm. Water temp averaged 70 degrees.
Hey, tell me a story!

Been on vacation this week, so I'm able to fish and post.
Went out 10/10 around 10am, and started out hammering them. Within an hour I had 8 nice fish, and then I had to fish for them. I ended the day with 17, but I had to fish until 6pm and I rotated between three different brushpiles. Caught them from 6-12ft deep on blk/wht and blk/yellow/wht tube jigs.
Made it out again today, and didn't do as well. I fished from 2pm-7pm and ended up with 6 nice keepers that lived to see another day. Some of the areas that yielded fish yesterday had nothing for me today. Fished the spencer creek area both days.
The fish seem to be coming in waves. I might catch two or three nice fish and then nothing, and 45min later I'll catch 2-3 more. They definitely are no longer schooling up, so running and gunning my be the best way to catch a mess. It should get better as the water temp continues to cool.
Was that a bite?

I paid part of my dues for Oologah Monday. Fished Hawthorn, Kite Hill and Goat Island for four hours, never got a bite fished water depth of 8'-25'. When I put in there were 4 boats at Hawthorn & 3 at Redbud. Two or more boats were fishing for cat fish saw one land a cat about 24" long. The wind came from all directions and from 0 mph one minute them 15mph the next.
I'm new to fishing for crappie in the fall, so guess I still have more dues to pay.

Black Crappie in Oologah
I am new to the Forum but not new To Oologah Lake. I have fished it off and on since the mid 70's. (that would make me an older Model. lol). I Fish Exclusively for Crappie. Had Lots of Vacation Days in October and have been Catchin Fish in Blue Creek 10-12 FOW bigger fish Right on the Bottom on smallish minnows a few on jigs but mostly minnows. Avg probably 10-15 keepers per trip lots of Dinks. Did get shut out cpl of days when the wind was just too much
But my Question is Has the Deparment of Wildlife started Stocking Black Crappie in Oologah? I had NEVER caught a black crappie in Oologah until about 5 years ago i Caught 1 and i mean 1 up near Hawthorn
I know Black Crappie Thrive in Clearer Water and Oologah has Cleard alot over the Years due to age i guess but this fall i have been catchin a cpl every trip. Several have been keepers(10"+) and some were dinks suggesting they have spawned the last few years or have been stocked.
Just Curious anyone else catchin any Black Crappie or is it just a fluke
