The good news is that my allergy doctor says that being out on the lake is good for allergies, since the allergens settle on the water. If you are in a boat, or on the bank with the wind in your face, the allergies will give you a break. On the other hand, if you have my wife's cold, it will pass, hopefully before the big bite ends.
ps Allergies can start at any age. I never had one until I was in my thirties, out hunting sage hens in Montana. Ten years later, Dr. Wells said he had never seen anyone who was allergic to every tree, grass, weed, etc. He said the only thing I wasn't allergic to was horses.
Mine started at about age 30. And I battled it for years, still do , but not as bad as they once were.

At one time I would get a bad headache the day after I went fishing. I guess my sinuses would swell, IDK why. But about 10 years ago I qualifed for a BFL regional tournament as a co-angler, and I got invited by a boater to travel with him and practice. We left on Sunday, early , and fished that day. Right on schedule I got my headache on Monday. I thought, ohhh nooo, this is gonna be a long week, I'm gonna be in pain the whole time. Not fun.

And it stayed with me until Tuesday evening, and then just went away. And I've not gotten a day after headache since. If it would not cost me, I'd like to ask a doctor what happened and if this is common, but I never have. My theory is my body built up immunity. That was the first time I'd been outdoors three days in a row, cause usually I felt too bad on the second day.

I still battle the runny nose, etc , though. But no more headaches.

Fished this PM nothing in the brush pile shallow. Got a thermometer reading of 64˚ F about 6 inches under the surface. Should be happening

Finally got back on the water again today. Fished with my dad and had a great time doing it, doesn't happen often enough😢
We didn't have any real giants today, but we did manage to get 30 keepers in the boat. Double dipping jigs in 10-15 fow.

Slow today, only caught one on a jig. Wouldn't touch minnows. Water temp has dropped to 56 and cleared up quite a bit.

Fished crowder this morning from the bank with my father in law. Caught 9 between 7:00 and 7:30 on minnows and black/pink slab slayers about 3 feet deep, 5 foot from the bank. After 7:30 nothing.

Fished Belle Starr dock today from 7am til 4:30pm. Only managed 9 keepers and about 20 throwbacks. The "run", if you want to call it that, only lasted about 45 minutes, about 7 to 7:45am. For some reason I couldn't buy one at that time. All mine came on small feather jigs 12' to 15'. Pink/white/white, pink/chart, red/gray/chart.
