Lake Eufaula archives

Longtown Creek must be a month behind elsewhere. Small fish were in 6-8' near timber with a few real small ones moving to the bank. They were aggressive for a short while but all were 7"-9". Lots of fish suspended out on the edge of the creek channel 5-20' feet deep. They were so finicky they wouldn't take the jig - would occasionally bump it . Saw one or two nice ones caught by minnow fishermen fishing deep. I finally got bored fishing so slow and began longlining the channel with a heavy jig (1/8-1/4 oz) and picked off a few active ones. One was caught on a Yum Beavertail and the others all came off 3" Kalin grubs. Brought home 10. They were all 12-14", all females, and their eggs nowhere near ready to spawn.

Same where we were fishing yesterday. A lot of non aggressive fish, just moving it . Swatting at the bait. Caught several on the outside of their mouth and foul hooked in the side too. I attributed that to being the third day after a front and the water cooling down a few degrees also..... Ranger

Fished Crowder Monday. Started near the launch. Caught a ton of males under 10". Finally headed away from the pressured areas and found some very nice fish 7-11 feet deep on the bottom the last 2 hours. Kept 13, biggest was 13.5". Water was 57.5 at 1 pm and 62 at 7 pm. Fish were not very aggressive but they were willing if you could get it in front of them. Fished big wooly bees and a wolly bee type looking thing I picked up at the winganon bait store at Oologah. Half of the smaller females still had eggs, no big females had eggs.

Ranger - Kaw was the same on Sunday with WT at 52

Well i bought a 2000 Stratus and it is in excellent shape spent way more than i wanted but most others need more work and money put into them. This one has always been kept in the garage. Thank you EB and Panfish Paladin for your suggestions and help. I decided to try a bass boat and see how i like it and if i dont i wont tell my wife..lol

Fished with 2 good friends today and we cleaned 31. The bite was off from yesterday with no really good fish. A lot of 3/4 to 1 1/4 lb fish today. Had to downsize my baits cause they just wouldn't take the big bait. They would hit it but short. Downsizing was the ticket. Blk/Chart. and Pum/Chart was the color of choice. Slab Bandits were the baits of choice..... Ranger

I took two good friends as well we went to Coal creek and tried some new water. Ended up with 12 keepers. The water is still a little muddy for me! We caught them on big wasshoppas. Blk/pink was the best color. WT 74! EB

Hey Mark, I'm taking my 2 boys to Eufaula all day saturday. With a north wind , what general area would you try?

Kept 47 in 2 hrs Caught em from 1ft to 10ft with most comin in 5 ft of water. Half had eggs and still like a week or so. Things fixin to pick up

Where were you fishing?

Biggest fish went 1.6 and lost a monster

VH caught em in Longtown area

Went yesterday evening from 4:00-8:00 and ended up with 16 keepers. Caught some on rip rap, brush piles, and jig and cork. Lots of 9 inch males. It's seems like that we our on the tail end of the spawn. We had a good year so far! EB

Brian have you heard any reports on the north end of the lake. was wondering if the crappie was doing anything up north.

Todd. Just cleaned 50 today Caught em from 5:00 till about 6:45.

They had backed off from Yday....twice as many females as Yday too. Most were caught fro. 4 to 8 ft deep. Was on the north end today

Fished the crowder area again yesterday. Caught a ton of small ones and 15 big ones, pretty good numbers for how rough the water was in the spots I chose to fish. I did a lot of exploring new areas, it cost me some fishing time but will pay off when the fish go deeper. They were picky about depth, 8 FOW or nothing in all the spots I tried. Water was 67.5 to 69.5, visibility was about 8 inches. I used big wooly bees, black and pink seemed to be preferred.

Caught around 200 the last few days here on the banks by the fishing dock I use. Floating a slab bandit (pumpkin seed-chartuese) about 24" below a cork. Of those 200, kept about 80. Amazing how a 6" crappie can swallow a 3" slab bandit.

Had 40 keepers today! Big fish was 1.68! Had to fish 40 places to catch 40 fish. The fish were pretty spread out. 4-8ft water temp was 75. EB

Report for Friday, May the 11th: Cleaned 36, biggest was around a pound and a half, caught them on several different colors, didn't seem to matter, they were hitting hard and not picky. Water temp is 70 here on the dock and murky, they're still coming in shallow and most females still have eggs. Didn't fish today, spent a 12 hour shift at the local hospital. By the way, Happy Mother's Day to all the fine ladies that put up with nasty smelling old fishermen, wash their dirty underwear year after year, and keep them on the straight and narrow.

Hey SF, I fished the Longstown area sat. from about 1:30 to 8pm. Fished off the Buckbrush and the riprap but only caught 1 about 8 inches. Maybe it was the front coming through or I wasn't holding my mouth right.

Just keep chugging that jig or minnow out Paladin, you'll get into them soon. They're still spawning and coming in shallow. Good luck!

Great report Jim...been about a week since I have been on the water. Got a case of the Oklahoma crud and coughed so much I threw my back out. With reports like that my itch is bone deep.....Ranger

Had 19 in a couple hours this evening.....some on bank....some in 12ft of water....most in 6-8 fow. Some females spewing eggs others look like another week or so

Hope you get feelin' better Mark. I ended up with that stuff after we went fishing with you. Took a little over a week to get completely over it! Of course, I'd made it all Winter without a major sick spell. Go figure!

Fished long town &#9. Area Saturday and Sunday and ended up with a limit sat. And only fished 2hrs Sunday eve and ended with 27 keepers Saturday fish were all on bank 2 ft or less Sunday most fish had backed out most fish were in 6-8 fow on brush and around the docks suspended about 4ft ,,hope this helps

I'll have to do some walking, but I know a place in the Longtown area that has proven to be an excellent site when they're spawning. I think I will give it a try and if successful, will give a report later this evening. If not successful, I will blame it on Ranger.......not sure why, just will...........hahahaha.

Had 21 after work....fished from 5-7. Most were on the bank...caught 3 females over a 1lb in 8fow

Didnt mean to make it worse mark hope ya get to feelin better ,, when ya do they are all yours ,, im in florida with the wife for the week

Gonna try and head for Tenkiller tomorrow if the ole back will allow and prefish some. Hadn't been on the lake since Tournament day 2 weeks ago and hoping my fish are still in the same places they were. Had 15 and a 3lb channel cat this evening before the rain hit....most were abou 7ft deep in 11fow. Caught em on a 2"yum beaver

14 keepers. 5 small sandies, 1 catfish, and 2 gar (well they cut the line). Decent evening of fishing on the north end.

few days ago I was fishing around my dock and caught 42 crappie, 25 sand bass , 7 largemouth, and two channels. only five crappie were over 11 inches. the girls had dropped their eggs.

Had 25 keepers yesterday in 6-10ft only 20 yds of rip rap. The wind was brutal but it made the rip rap very good fishing. EB

The night bite has been good, have been casting BG and Crappie Pro with Mo Glo heads and 32nd roadrunners that I make catching about 50 per trip, nothing big but the wife and kiddos sure enjoy it .....
