Had a pretty good day on Eufaula..sunny and windy..kept 33 today rigging minnows in 10' to 14' DOW fishing 8' deep. At times it got so busy I couldn't keep all my lines in the water. Had 4 poles in the water and with 3 big fish on, it was jerk flop in boat, and jerk flop in boat, and jerk and land..only bad thing about flopping fish in the bottom of the boat was they like to get tangled up...lol...Early they were deeper and later in the day they got shallow..biggest was 1.71lb..WT was 46.8 when I left....Ranger
Good report Mark, 33 fish and some good ones too. Sure sounds like you had fun.
Longan I would say pretty close to midlake...like EB stated the fish are in a pattern where they are moving around alot so you just have to cover alot of water to find the spot of the day. I watched several fisherman yesterday and talked with several and jigs were not the bait of choice for the day. Yeah they were catching a few but nothing like the minnows were, but again I had a few more baits in the water too. I hadn't bought a minnow in 15 yrs before I hooked up with EB now I buy a few every so often just to relax and sit back on a cold day and enjoy the scenery...Ranger
Lake is coming up, instead of over 5 feet low, only around 3-1/2 now. Glad its coming up slowly, don't want it climbing too rapidly and messing everything up.
Stink let it come on up, it fishes much better when its high anyway! Hearing good reports the last few days, water temps are from 46-50 degrees and fish are getting active! EB
Fished today rigging minnows along creek channels today and kept 31 really nice fish. My biggest 7 weighed 11.13 with a 2.01 big fish. DOW early was 14' with WT at 45.6. It warmed to 50.8 by days end. The crappie moved closer to 10' to 12' by mid morning. As soon as the clouds covered the sun they moved back to the channel break in 15'......Ranger
Thanks for the report ranger, I'm gonna try and go either tomorrow or Friday.
Ranger glad you found some fish! Bowman let us know how you do.
Ranger...did you try jigs at all. I'm going tomorrow, haven't bought minnows in three years, but was considering taking some with me. Just curious if you kept out any rods with jigs while you were riggin'. Thanks.
Yes we tried jigs as well, minnows were 3/1 this day..water with color and having to cover water minnows working alittle better....Ranger
They are a little finicky this year as to the bigger baits also. Not one hit on a beavertail, 3 " slayer or wassapah. Smaller baby shad styles and live minnows is all they have taken from us in last month on E.
Fished again today and kept 36 keepers. Could of kept 45 to 50 if we wanted to keep 10" fish today as well. WT was 48 to 52 degrees depending on where you were in the creek. Bigger fish came from 13' to 16' DOW and fishing 8' deep with most fish coming from the top hook. Didn't weigh any today but I am sure we had close to 11lbs give or take 1/2lb. Technique today was rigging minners....Ranger

Had a guest with me today deehunterodie said he wanted to fish with a good guide EB..lol...Ranger
Dang you making me jealous Ranger! Looks just lovely this weekend, not. I am glad your catching them!
Thanks Kirk, tell Mike that when he gets ready for another trip give me a holler and I will put him on em...Ranger
Had a good time fishing with Mark, Ranger09, today. We probably caught 75 fish or more today. I lost another big one trying to get it in the boat. I banged it on the side of the boat trying to lift it in and knocked it off. Probably didn't have any 2 pounders but a couple were close, and several 1 1/2 fish. Mark couldn't find his scales. Great weather, great company and good fishing what else could you ask for? Thanks again Mark.

Well at least I didn't get shunked!! Fished crowder area today with little action. Fish I did catch were in 16-20 Dow. I was fishing jigs around 11ft deep. Jig color didn't seem to matter. The fish that did bite were aggressive. Water temp was 49 deg. Gotta get better soon!!!
Don't feel bad bowman...fished around hickory point today. A few crappie and a few very aggressive sandies. Spider rigged with minnows and jigs, nothing outperformed anything else. Most of my bites came in 10-13 dow, about 9 foot deep. But like I said, it was slow for me!
Glad to hear it wasn't just me. Lol
How was the ramp at hickory? That's where I really wanted to fish, but it's an hour drive and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get out to main creek channel???
You can get to the main channel just take your time. Ramp is fine....Ranger
Thanks ranger, start day shift tomorrow, but I may try and make my way down there next weekend. Be sure to leave a few for the rest of us!!!
Had the pleasure of guiding Achiro and his son Nick today. I was able to show then how to catch crappie spider-rigging. We spider rigged minnows 8-10ft in 12-16 fow. Ended up with 30 keepers. The fish seem to be relating to banks that are flatter next to the channel. Oh and it was cold and it got even colder as the day went on! Got some open days coming up starting Friday! EB
Currentley we are averaging between 30-50 a day! It's that time if year with the warm weather this weekend it should be even better! EB
With spring break coming up I have a few days available for booking if anyone is interested. It is looking like some beautiful weather....Ranger
Got open dates Friday and Sunday! EB
A friend of mine Brando Watts went with this evening. We got on the water at 4:15 and those fish were biting. We were double dippin jigs 6-7 ftover 7-8 fow where the vis was 2-3 inches and 10-12ft over 10-14 fow where it was 6-8 inch vis. The fish seem to be relating to those breaklines more than anything! We ended up keeping 21 in 3 hrs. Pretty good evening bite! Hot baits wher pump chart and blk chart beavertails and slab slayers! EB
Eufaula is really starting to heat up, catching good numbers everyday now. The fish are starting to stage with the water at 50-55 degrees. Booking trips through Monday-Wednesday next week, I'm open for spring break. Lots of fishing the next few days! EB
Fished with clients today riggin minners in 10' to 18' DOW. WT today only got up to 50 degrees today and the bite was somewhat off compared to the last few days. We ended up with 42 keepers with the 2 biggest fish being males at 1.74 and 1.68 lb.. The highlite of the day and good dead was saving a momma goose that had gotten wrapped up in a catfish noodle and was struggling to keep her head above water. Check out my cut up hands cause she sure could bite and claw..lol.....Ranger
Good job on the goose Ranger!
Thanks Kirk....got BANDAIDS...lol....Ranger
Sorry for the late report, but I didn't get home until 1015 last night, back up at 5 today headed to work. I made the long drive (120 miles one way) to Eufaula yesterday and met up with Mark (Ranger09) and another friend of mine. We fished jigs exclusively in 8-14 fow. The fish seem to be just roaming the banks in that depth of water. We never pulled up to a spot and caught them holding on anything specific. Open water fishing at its best is the way I would describe it. We used slab slayers, beaver tails, and slab bandits. Best colors were pump/char, blk/char, and white/char, as you can see chartruese was a common theme. Mark got out of the boat around 4 and Brian (Eufaula Boy) got in. We started at 1030 and had 30 in the boat when Mark left, we kept 25 more from 4 to 730. Our biggest was 1.87 with 5 over 1 1/2. As you can tell that is not what I call tearing it up. 3 guys fishing 9 hours only add up to about 2 keepers per hour per man. But it was a great day on the water with good friends.

I like the tag team method.
I hit a lake for 2 days last week and after 8 hrs of fishing had 9 in the boat. WT was 50degs. The second day we repeated the pattern and caught 15,largest was 1.5 #s. The third day we had 3" of rain overnight and every thing rose 4-7'. We were dead meat. Horrible conditions but we made lemonade out of the situation.
Fished the south end with clients today and the fish are still in the pre spawn mode. Fish are not relating to any structure and moving along the channel breaks and in 10' to 14' DOW. We ended up with 47 and had a 2.02 big fish and a 7 fish total weight of 12.71lbs. Method today was double dipping jigs in pum/chart..blk/pink..blk/chart..pearl/chart.. We caught fish on slab bandits, slab slayers, and beavertails. Wt got up to 53 degrees today. Still have a few days available next week but filling fast......Ranger

Really glad to see you healthy and thinning the ranks again Ranger. The private persecution may get pretty bad but I still gotta ask. What are channel breaks? I have a hunch but so far my hunches are good for about a dozen fish last few times out so maybe it's pride swallowing time!
Took my Grand Daughters and Daughter IAttachment 119029nlaw today fishin. I had a blast watching them catch crappie and hearing them all excited. It was their first time to catch a fish on anything artifical. We double dipped jigs in water 6' to 16'. Color didn't matter as long as you got it close to them today. Water Temp got up to 58 degrees in the back of the coves and even saw fish being caught on cork and jig. We ended up keeping 45 crappie and its fish fry time tonight....Ranger
Great job ranger nothing like the smiles of kids. I'm headed to eufaula tomorrow any tips on where to start would be much appreciated. Thanks nitro
I fished today, we cleaned 62. Early the fish were in 10-14 then we moved up and tried a little shallower in 7-9 ft and killed them. We went from 15 fish to 50 in 30 minutes. We were double dippin jigs today. Rod in each hand! EB
