I'm thinking about making the trip down here today but Eufaula is such a big Lake. Are there certain areas to target crappie this time of year?
If anybody up north is wandering why they are biting so well at Eufaula and not Kaw these graphs showing lake levels at Kaw and Eufaula pretty much sums it up his year. Not hard to figure out which graph is Kaw Lake. Been that way all spring.
Had a 1/2 a day trip today with Chad and his mon Debbie. We got out at 1:30 and quit at 5:30 just before the lightning ran us off, ended up with 25 nice fish probably caught 50 or so. All that were kept were 10 inches because that's the size they keep in Missouri. they were caught on Rocky points in 4-9ft double dippin beaver bottom baits with Todd Huckabee pro series and dippin stick rods. Thank you Josh.
Boat up n running, anyone hav any advice on where to find some fish(crappie or sandies)? We are fishing mid lake- eufaula cove, 69 bridge, riprap. Not really ready to travel too far. Nephew leaving tomoro n he is desperate for a couple okie fish. All advice welcome n appreciated. Thx guys
I kno I can't tie off to piers anymore but is it legal to anchor off the rip rap under 69 bridge like we' v done at blocker?
Been putting a rope around the pylons for two years and have not been told any different to this point. I don't think those rules are really enforced. But if you would rather not tie to them the anchor would be fine. Fished last week around 69 in the triangle and caught a few but nothing to write home about.
Thx lazylakedawg
If you want sand bass, troll along the old highway south of the NC river bridge on the east side of 69. Almost a guarantee to catch sand bass there from now through the rest of the summer.
Thx winger. That's usually a go to spot for me. Just didn't c them like normal.
On the water this morning at 0550 off by 1130. Dipped timber to see if they were biting. It was just a get out and fish day before it got real hot. Didn't keep any and took no pictures. Ended with around 35 total. No big fish just good eaters and that for me is nothing under 10" biggest maybe 11", had some shorts as well. 8-17 FOW, fished 5-11' down. Color didn't seem to matter with the exception of red and black. Got a few bites on it just never set a hook on one. Pumpkin/chart, white/chart, blue/chart, silver/chart. See the pattern. Would have stayed longer just got tired of fighting the wind.
Awesome job cj . . . I woke up saw the wind blowing and decided to do a few projects around the place. Let me just say my day is done and laying if front of the ac blowing full blast. Maybe I'll get out this evening.
Went out today with a bucket full of minnows. First I started out in the creek with a cork and minnow 2-3ft but they weren't having it. Creek seemed a little muddy. So I ran out in the lake and found some brush in 7-10ft. Ended up keeping 15 drop shoting minnows. EB
Nice EB. They were really around the rock a couple of weeks ago. I went Wednesday and couldn't get a bite. Finally moved to some timber and caught a few. Hope they move back to the rocks. Caught a lot more around them than on timber.

Took a break from the crappie yesterday...Caught a 65lb flathead and ended the day with a 7 lb largemouth. Good day!
JJ That flathead will eat good!
Great pic Josh!
Is anyone catching any crappie? Looking to go a little early Saturday but no reports has me a little worried. We caught them on the rocks a few weeks ago and would go there to try or maybe standing timber. Just curious if anyone is doing any good in this heat?
Yes......lots and lots of crappie
Fished for a few hours this morning. On the water at 6 and off at 1030. Dipped some timber in 7-14 FOW. Not a great morning, but good enough for me just to get back on the water since about 3 weeks ago. Fish seemed to be a foot off bottom for those that we caught, any shallower and we never got a bite. Caught around a dozen and kept 5 for my mother to have some fish for her. Biggest being 12 1/2". Caught 3 on pumpkin/chart and Josh caught 3 real quick on a solid chartreuse with a little pepper flake in it. Naturally it was the only one in the boat. Think it came from one of Franks gift packs from the Tenkiller Tourney. He then put on a well not real sure of the color, I think they had faded a little, but going to say pearl with a very small hint of purple in it. That seemed to be the best other than the chartreuse one. Yes he put it on me today, but hey that's ok just building memories is all anyways.
Got another hour of break in done this morning and decided to fish for a few with my son David. We found some fish in 7'-9' on main lake points at 5' deep. Slab Bandits in Pearl, Salt n Pepper, and Pearl Truse was the ticket. Attachment 246052Attachment 246053
WTG!!!!
Me and the youngest Brady went today and tried the north end.....cleaned 25 and caught over a hundred.....had to use minnows....yes i admit it....had to use minnows....caught two on jigs and that was it.....fish were 10' deep on structure in 10 to 13 fow.....it was a good day even if we had to use the wiggling.slippery, jump out your hand and hide minners.
Andy
It's a little less embarrassing if you call them Arkansas Jigs- to me anyway.(-:
Have to laugh when I see how many people shy away from minnows. I will give you guys a lot of credit for being die hard jig fishermen. I know 2 fellas that have made a pretty good living using those Arkansas shiners in the crappie tournaments. Don't think Capps and Coleman are embarrassed to use them.
From what I've read it doesn't matter if they have a jig on, it's going to have a minner trailer. I thought someday they would be able to catch them like the Big Boys in Oklahoma LOL. I just don't like messing with them. BUT if the freezer starts getting low, better look out, bait shop here I come.
looking at maybe trying some fishing Saturday after the rain. Is there any reports? Thought I might head south and try some shallow water area to see if they've moved up.
Caught a few last week on main lake points and secondary points in 5'-9'. Most fish were relating to rocks and some wood......Ranger
