My dad is an 89 y/o WWII Vet......you want to tell him he's not welcome to fish here? Or because he's from IN, he should be penalized?

can't wait for him to get down with you!!!

on another note--if the reason for lowering the pole limit is based on SOUND data to help the fishery then I'm for it--if it isn't then I'm not.
I'm not a biologist but I am a data person.

    Default Sardis Rod Limit

Maybe my word choice was poor. Not deter, but relieve stress from both locals and out of state anglers. Two less poles may cost me one or two fish a day, but when you're on the fish, you just have to fish longer. The limit decreasing will help the population bounce back. Think how many limits come out of the lake every year and how many fish it will save. The rod limit is to help alleviate some of the pressure on these extremely overfished lakes. Fishing pressure is the root of this decision. Neon, no offense meant to anybody out of town, it's everybody's fishery. And these rules are set to make sure there are big fish for years to come.

Oh Ya, THAT should solve everything!!!! Digger, you have had a problem with out of state sportsmen for a long time!!! Using your theory, I say raise everyone's license fees, both residents and non resident, to $200 a year!!! Lets just take the little guy out of it completely!!! I'm with you brother!! I'll still be there fishing. Even though I haven't taken a single fillet out of the state of Mississippi in over a year, if we raise the fees, I'll still fish there. After all, My tax dollars fund those Corps lakes as well!!!! With license fees that high, we will reduce pressure from both residents and non residents!!!

Before anyone gets their panties in a wad, I am being sarcastic to point out absurdity!!!

People seem to get their panties in a wad either way. I explain what I am told by biologists and it becomes an issue of political correctness and that I am against war veterans (my roommate is a Iraq war vet, 173rd Airborne). I am just trying to shed light on why this has been done, and there is a biological study backing why things were done.

Its same as deer in Iowa, non resident tags are hard to come by, and that is because the deer numbers in that state take a beating every year during hunting season. We still want people to be able to fish the corp lakes(and travel to fish them), so instead of making it an outrageously high price, we limit the number of fish kept and fishing pressure put on these lakes, thus preserving the fishery from being "fished into the ground."

Mo Money, according to the first post in this thread, this decision was made based on 25 letters and comments at 1 meeting. I may have missed it; but I don't see any biological data referenced. I have met and talked with Ron Garavelli and I have a great respect for his work and knowledge. However: I still don't see any hard data to justify this change. It seems to be greasing a squeaky wheel.

Gary....did you ask about any data when you talked with him? Just wondered what he told you the reasons were and how they arrived at the decision.
