Small spinning reels for fishing deeper water if I may be also long lining in the morning and pushing during mid day like BRM said (double duty). Wish I could find 10 of the older bait casters that had the flipp'n switch. Would be sweet to have it and not worry about turning the handle to lock it back in.
Shine, look on EBay. Sometimes you can find some good deals on them with the flipping switch.

'Holic bought 8 Quatum reels from Sportsmans Guide and now has bought 8 more. He loves them so far. He uses Vicious 15# Hi-Vis yellow for the main line and 8 or 10# Vicious Pro Florocarbon.

I use small open face spinning reels.

Since MOST everyone here pulls cranks in the summer and most use the line counter reels, (and I know they are bulky) and seems like most are running 10-12lb hivis line, then why would you not use the same thing spider rigging? I would think you could more accurately put the bait in the target zone you are fishing. Am I wrong?

Good quality spinning reels with good drags work best for me. I can open the bail and drop the jig instantly into the boat for adjusting, ect. I use 16 ft rods and they have caught everything from 10.5 lb largemouth to 23 lb buffalo with no problem. I do use the baitcasters on the crankbait rods though.
