Good quality spinning reels with good drags work best for me. I can open the bail and drop the jig instantly into the boat for adjusting, ect. I use 16 ft rods and they have caught everything from 10.5 lb largemouth to 23 lb buffalo with no problem. I do use the baitcasters on the crankbait rods though.
