I use the older Johnson Century spin cast with 30# power pro. My hook rig is on smaller mono line.

[QUOTE=Wannabe...;1769617]It ain't that spinning reels won't handle large fish, it's that you have to pay off line with two hands and they stick way out from the rod making your stack of rods more prone to tangle in transport.

It aint that minis won't handle big fish, again, you have to pay off line with two hands.

But the real reason to use bait casters is that you can more easily use longer rods and short lines are no problem and micro depth adjustments can all be done with one hand with the thumb bar line release.

When you catch a good fish, you can set the hook, fight him to the top with one hand and have your other hand free for your net. Plus, with the fish on the line and a net in one hand you can release the line and pay it out with tension from your thumb, raise the rod and bring the fish in to be netted. This also helps if someone else is running the net.

Now...go get bait casters before I whip ya.

does this theory werk even ifn ur planin on katchen more than one feshy??? just askin.......

When you let line out with the thumb release dont you still have to turn the handle to lock it? How can you do that with 1 hand? By the time you got your hand from the release to the handle your line is still going out right. Could someone explain this please.

WB does present many good points. I just need to be able to find a deal on 6 reels for my new PST 143's!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

Get a baitcaster with the thumb bar....push the thumbar to release the line....put your thumb on the spool to stop the line bring fish in to the boat or the net. Its easy once you get the hang of it.
