That's the funniest thing about Eagle....while they don't have all the whiz bang of the more expensive units, you just don't hear of folks having problems with them not working even though given the price point, you know there's a heaping ton of 'em out there. The dang things just keep fish finding and gpsing along year after year.
For example, I owned my 480 for, I think 4 years. Never removed it from the boat in all that time and it was stored in my carport through all kinds of temperature swings. It got rained on frequently from blowing wind under the carport too, but I never even gave a thought as to IF it would power up when I hit the button....now, the $600 unit on the front, it was major puckerage everytime I reached for the "PWR" button.
Anyway, talk with the Maj if you're on a budget and his units are suitable, if not, go for it on the Eagles.
