Default question to the board about a boat trailer...help please....................

has anyone ever had a problem with one tire wearing out badly on the outside edge only? can an axle be squared up, or is it best to get a new axle? or, what other problems could cause it, thanks.

If it's only one tire I would say the axle is bent. If the axle was out of alignment, the inside of one tire would wear and the outside of the other tire would be worn. How bad is it wearin? You might try rotating the axle 45* to point the bent part down or rotate it 90* and wear the inside of the tire.

Mine does it on the inside. You can take it to a good trailer company and they can adjust the tow-in which will help. But don't hit any curbs or pot holes

Next time you put your boat in the water, look at both tires and see which way they are leaning. Without the boat, they should be leaning to the outside.

For one too wear only on the outside you would have had to back into something pretty hard with it but if the other is wearing on the inside the axle is not square.
you would remember hitting something in reverse that hard.

Could be a bunch of stuff. Take it to a trailer joint that knows what they're doing. But yeah, I suspect the axle is your problem or it's out of align.

Sounds like a bent spindle. Remove the wheels and measure the hub face front and rear. It dont take much to cause it to wear the tire. If hub face measures same it is probally out of alignment but then it should wear both tires. I bent one by scrubbing a curb.

Both of my tires wear heavy on the inside and outside. Sounds like under inflated? I run 80# of air. Should I jack it up to 90?
