A lotta folks on here use the Okumas, not really any asmaller than the depthmasters. They seem to be holding up fine, and as for the relining em, just back it wit some junk line then the good stuff over that. will save ya some cash.

I seen ya pull in a couple that day Creek. You were DA MAN that day at the camp. Need to learn you how to clean a fish faster though, you're slower than bigger trying to figure out what beer to buy. LOL
Sucker was slap dadgum full. Got to give you SOME grief but do preciate you giving me abit of advise of colors that day.
No problems to date, they seem to be a good composite body reel and for the price it is hard to go wrong. Of course it is just like anything else if you lay them in the bottom of the boat and get sand and dirt and grime in them I'm sure you may have some problems. If you take care of them and transport them properly you should get years of service from them.
It's really starting to tick me off that Maj, a gewber newbie, was able to come up with a subject that spawned 85 responses and 1,000 hits. Don't go getting the big haiyd Maj, it's just beginners luck.
On the other hand, why fight it.
Anybody picked up an Orange Crush yet? Looks sweet.

WB don't go gettin all jealous now, you know what they say about a blind squirrel
at grenada last fall. That, Khaki, whatever the dark purple is called and BLACK were my best 4 colors the last trip there. It was cloudy so I guess thats why the black was working
how important is it to have a baitcaster style reel when pulling cranks? I'm just getting into crappie fishing and all of the rods I would use for crappies are spinning reels. I guess I have one baitcaster on a medium action rod I would use for crappies...but the rest are on spinning rods and reels. please forgive the ignorance of this question! lol

Yeppers and it worked great at first then kinda fell off near the end of the season.
I bought several Zebco 33's and other than having to count line 5, 10, 15, 20 etc. they work great. I've had zero problems and If one does go out while I'm fishing, I keep an extra one on board already lined up. At 12-15 bucks each, I can afford that
Get um by the 4 pk.
Amazon.com: 4 PACK OKUMA MAGDA PRO LINECOUNTER REELS: Sports & Outdoors
Then I found the 15 for: http://www.northwoodsoutlet.com/osco...oducts_id=4098
on those. 25 each plus S & H.
Doop, baitcasters are not required.........however, they're generally more durable, have more cranking power for hauling in fish, more line capacity, and they're a bit easier to handle when free spooling line out. That being said, you could use an empy peanut can if ya wanted and it'd be fine. A full peanut can would just be plain silly though.

I don't. I'm surprisingly strong for my size. The Bes on the other hand need multipliers.
One other thing Doop, generally, you can bring the line in a lot quicker with a Baitcaster than anyother type of reel.
Now pipe down Triton. I'm trying to learn the ignernt masses something. Keep this up and you'll be in detention.

sorry mr. poo
I've been to the bandit web site several times and still can't find the 2.99 baits.
Help please!!!!!!!!!!
Try this Bandit Lures
But watch they are not all 300 series.
Take that last link, on the Shop Categorie drop down box, select specials and all of their clearance stuff comes up. Most (but not all) 300s have a 3 as the first letter of their model number.

Well, I did screw my order up but Angie @ Bandit took care of it for me with no problem. That's customer service done right.;)
Yep, it's just no fun to get the right stuff the first time Maj. Just sucks all the fun right out of it.

that I posted the EXACT LINK to the specials page a few days ago. LOL Ole Blind joker. MAJ, you do know that it'll be 3 or 4 MONTHS before it's time to pull, right?
of the Green Carp message boards. You can pick up on some deals with people selling them 6 or 8 at a time. That's how i got several of mine
So what are you guys fishing right now? Are you just dropping jigs, minnows, or tipping jigs deep when you find the fish? I thought now was still the time to troll deep?
I'm gonna go ahead and put this here for yall..... ...ok..
yeah, I don't know what I'm doin'.... yet! I know how to jig a stump though..thats about it. But I'm eligible to retire in November, and I'm wantin' to learn how to realllly fishhh! Somebody said you guys could tell me!
Right now most everybody is spider rigging either jigs and minners or straight minners. There's prolly some die hards out there that are single poling deep structure though.
Got a buddy here in Grenada that was still pulling Cranks Dec 1 and catching some fish though, but the majority will wait to pull a crank starting in June through maybe October.

Close to being true on the statement "pull fast enough to give the baits the proper action." Sometimes they want it abit faster. I've caught them as fast as 3.4 MPH. More of a "hey, there's something in front of me, I think I'll eat it" type reaction bite than anything else
When the water temperature hits 60 degrees it's on, I don't care what day of the year it is. That seems a long way from the 38 degrees I saw Sunday.
That's right about Spawn temp right there. Yikes, I had a surface temp at Ross Barnett the other day of 33. Of course I was easing through Ice fields to
Yikes doesn't own a jig pole, prolly never has felt a thump. I suspect he's a closet bass guy, what with his affinity for crank baits! ;) :)
I had ONE jig pole on Sunday until it was sacrificed to the lake gods via commercial fishing net. LOL
Well...sounds like you did as well as most and better'n some! I'm glad you got to get out on the water finally! I still need a half a day to finish my fishfinder installation and button my boat back up so I can go.
I'm sittin here at work today wishing I were headed to Sardis!!! A fella getting off the mid, and another guy from here were headed down to fish the Clear creek area! .....I'm kickin myself for not calling in sick!! ;-[
