The new line of "Crappie" Bandits have several variations of PANK that I can't wait to try.:D
This thread is like the Energizer Bunny, it just keeps going and going and going.:D
So so true, I need to find me some of these new so called "crappie" bandit colors
Thing is, I've probably re-read this thread more than anyone else. Learn something every time.
I probably need to loop through one more time and see what i missed. had no idea it was this long when i started reading it.
Here they are. Bandit Lures
Do you think the red hooks makes much difference? Because a couple of the crappie series colors they have without red hooks.
The Black Bubble Gum, the Orange Crush, and the Pink Sparkle can get without red hooks.
OR if they make much difference maybe buy some red hooks and put on some of my regular colors..hmmmmm
I've had very very good luck with the blue/chrome.
Acutally, I suggested the Crappie Series colors and the board at Big Crankbait listened. I'm preparing a lawsuit for my cut as we speak. I would have settled for a color named after me, but nooooo, they refuse to settle out of court. I'm telling ya, The Wannabe Speshul would have sold like hot cakes.
Wannabe...
as usual
I actually think they were going to do it, but backed out at the last minute when they couldn't find an adhessive strong enough to stick the long flowing, soft and supple, movie star hair on.
Wannabe...
selling them your back hair for those Cranks
Won't work DD. It's supple, shiney and bouncy, but not near long enough.
Wannabe...
I heard that about him Creek. Won;t work and not long enough
Are Bomber A's any good for pullin?
A lot of people use them as well as other crankbaits.
someone may have already said this, but, go to myoutdoortv.com and look under the Midwest Crappie show's subtitles. There are several shows with Kent D. on there fishing cranks on the COE lakes.
Make sure it's the first one. Kent goes over WHY you do things
Those are good videos and now is a good time for a review. He points out the proper way to space the amount of line out for each rod. I don't think I'd seen that any place else.
Kent runs his lines a little different than I do, Hes the pro but I know what works for me.
If so, you're turning to sharp or you don;t have them spaced out enough. I TRY and keep them atleast 15 feet apart, line length outwise
Kent runns his with the longest line out on the shortest rod....the farthest one to the rear. He does it that way in theory that the prop wash will spook some fish and that bait needs to be farther from the boat. Good theory.
I run my short poles with the least amount of line out and the longest poles with the most line out. When MY outside pole gets hit theres enough difference in line/bait depth that my when the fish comes to the surface theres more of a chance for the fish to go behind the other lines and to the center line of the boat. Thus desreacing a chance of tangle.
Where as Driscolls lines are longer on the short poles and theres more of a chance for the fish to get wrapped in another line enroute to the center.
Just the way I do it and it works out real good.
Clear as mud yet???
Catfish hits ANY of them no matter how ya got them out, chunk all theories out the winder LOL
Not completely true.....the hardest part to teach is when you do get a strike, the proper procedure is to hold the rod up as high as you can and wait for it to surface. Then it will center up on the boat.
but on occasion when you have 8 poles out and they get to spinnin behind the boat, that's when I've gotten some tangles.Biggest trouble is when you're going upwide and then want to turn a 180 and go back through the same spot again. If you caught several and want to get back in there, I've turned to sharp a couple times and had a sho nuff mess. My fault completely but that wind will tend to turn the boat funny at time along with my to sharp a turn
I can get between 4 and 5 hrs out of my trolling batteries. Anybody see any problem finishing the day with a 150 hp outboard? No problem slowing the speed down with drift socks.
From what I understand....most of the guys pulling cranks use their outboards...they can slow them down by use of drift socks, 5 gallon buckets, or use a trolling plate on their motor.
Would it make any difference if the 150 was a 2stroke vs a 4 stroke?
I pull with my 90 two-stroke at the end of the day after exhasting my troller and haven't had a problem so far. Been doing it 4 years now. I tend to drive it like I stole on the way back to the ramp just to clear the plugs. hehe
