I think the action is the same.....thats what I heard anyway.
My 8 ftr. bend more than my 10 and 12 because the pole diameter is a little smaller....my tens bend more than my 12's also.
All 8 of my PST's are the same redish-brown color.
All of my PST's 12's, 10's, and 8's are all dark blue.
Yeah my 8's are dark blue and have much smaller rod diameter than the 12's. Maj - I will have to compare them with yours next time I catch up with you on the rez.
DoubleG
Mine are blue also and I love mine.
Guess I'll have to double check the color of mine.
quit sipping the wine Maj! Mine are blue also, just went and checked before I got accused of the green cup.
Maj did post after 5 PM so most likely he was on his 2nd glass of Mad Dog 20/20 LOL
What color are they today Maj? lmao :D
My 30# hivis braid came in and here is what I did, hope it will help others.
Removed old line.
Attachment 49975
Then added a 9 inch piece of double sided tape, 7/8 inches wide.Attachment 49977
Attachment 49976
Then cut a piece of 3/4 inch sched 40 pvc about 1 1/8 inches wide, then split it in half, and put it on the tape. photo in next post.
Attachment 49977.
Then loaded the new line. Only takes about 220 feet instead of over 600 with empty spool or having to fool around with old line as spacer
Attachment 49978
couldn't replace pic from above, so here it is with the pipe installed..

That looks great EZ.... Thanks for the info. What was the price of the hi vis braid and what brand was it? Next time I respool I might which to the hi vis..

Ordered 2 spools from BPS and it was just under 60 shipping and all.. Haven't tried it yet, but I feel like I will be pleased. Main reason I quit using braid before was I couldn't find any hivis, and I just couldn't see the other colors..
Looks good Gene, wish I'd had some of those last night when I spooling the new 20DX's.
Sorry, I just thought of it this morning, which was too late 4u.. but we'll catch it on the next 20DXs you order, which I'd bet will be soon.
Good idea Gene....now clean your reel up before Wannabe gets all over you about it, Lol. :D
Pleeeeezzzzeeee Mr WB, don't hit me, it's the cameras fault.....
+2 e-z, reel slick, thanks!!!
i just got my reels in the other day and have not had time to put the line on yet. i may have to try this.
That Gene's about as handy as a thumb to have around ain't he? Sorta like our very own MS version of Cane Pole, cept with non-electronical stuff. Now, if we could just teach him to keep his stuff clean.....
Dang good idea EZ. Years ago, they used to sell a 2 piece snap together spool spacer for the ABU 5500Cs. I used to keep them on most all of mine to save on line. This is basically the same sort of deal. Good cyphering on the double sided tape too.
Wannabe...
Yep....EZ reminds me of McGyver on that tv show....he can do anything and make anything out of anything......he's just not too good on keeping reels clean but what the heck...can't have everything.
Thaks, I am going to run them through the dishwasher this morning, that shud clean em.
Yesterday when my line came in, first thing I thought of was those spacers we used to use. Went and got mine out and you know they wouldn't fit, so this is what I came up with...
Now.....When its time to change line....I am going to do that to mine. Thanks for a great idea Gene. I like the drill and the hole saw idea to remove the line also.
Pulled cranks today on the Rez, along with doublegobble00. Caught 4 really good fish, one going about 2lbs. Forgot to take the camera. Also ate the crappieholic special breakfast at Tommy's.
Sounds like you had a good day Maj......anytime you start off with a breakfast like that its got to be good.
Congrats on a good day on the water Major. I'm still after the elusive 2 lb'r. I guess I'll have to wait till spring when they're full of eggs. I just got through painting 12 more cranks. I'll have plenty of pank, black and chartreuse.
If you push cranks off the front does it matter if you have 100 200 or 300? Considering you have a 3 or 4oz. weight. I have 4 14ft. pro trollers. I was thinking of pushing 4 and pulling 2. Any help appreciated.
The crappie up here are on the average 11 to 12 in. Do you think they will hit a crank?
They will definitely hit a crank if everything is right (just like any other bait), color, depth, speed, etc. Don't know about pushing, still learning about pulling.
For pushing....yep you could use 100's, 200's, or 300's......but I really think you get a better wiggle with the 300 due to the bigger lip. I caught some fish pushing at Okatibbe fishing with Scottv and I tried a 200 but like I say, I thought the wiggle was better with the 300 and thats what I caught the fish on. I push on some of the small state lakes nearby where I live and I use either 300 bandits or the Wally Marshal crankbaits.
Is it possible to push and pull at the same time. I am assuming the speed would be the same for both.
Scottv and Stevej push and pull at the same time. When I fished with them Scott had the boat set on 1.8 mph.
Yea Wilbur we push and pull cranks at the same time. I have 2 seats side by side up front and we usually push one crank and pull 3 off each side. I tie a loop knot up my line about 3 ft above the crankbait and hook a 1 ft leader with a 3 oz bank sinker to the loop knot. That way when I put my rod up, I can take the sinker off. Some days we catch more on the push poles than pulling.
Good deal, i think it will work eighter way.
I havent tried it yet but i got 10# hi vis. I put a 3oz. slip sinker on the main line and tie a swivel on. Then from the swivel i tie a 36in. leader of mono with a snap swivel to hook the crank to. I got 4 14ft. BnM pro trollers i was planning to run off the front. And 2 10 ft. silstars with line counters to run 1 off of each side.
Do you think I could use the big motor with a trolling plate? Its a 75hp. 2 stroke. Right now it will run 2.2 with the trolling plate do you think it will get down to 1.5
