Way to go Maj.... Only fitin for the starter of this great thread to post #1,000
he stayed up two days to do that, eating boiled pnuts and drinking gin and tonic
I don't drink gin.
You right feelay, neat.
i gots me a makers right now!
WELL SORRY. no offense to the Makers Drinkers
Thanks to both Maj. and Yikess for the drift sock info.
And congratulations to Maj. for starting, maintaining, and feeding this topic. Thanks to all who have contributed and educated.
This is the reason for the two 48" socks.
Attachment 50904
holy crap man!!! you did not say you had a carnival cruise ship you were using. you may want about a dozen more socks..lol
Nice rig Boatstall....I like it
I like it too Bill, but you might consider 60's to her.
Man, that's a friggin Yacht right there. Even got's a grill on board SWEET
Thanks guys. Maj. it may take a couple of 60" socks, but thought the 48's would be a good start. Have installed an Anchor-mate on each corner for anchors, and have clips that allow the socks to replace the anchors, either fore or aft, port or starboard Should be easy to deploy, adjust, and retrieve. Busy until after New Years, but then it will be on like white on rice. She's really very polite into the wind, and at 28' she tracks better with the TM than my 16' welded.
I like the Anchor-mate idea should work really well. Keep us posted.
I have a 20'er that works great for pulling cranks. I plan on bringing it down to Sardis this summer and leaving it their during the crank bait season.
That the same one you had down at one of the campouts last year Wayne? Think it was my first camp and PStone had his hand all bandaged up
That's it. I am going to rent a spot at the Dam Store and leave it there so when I get ready to come down I can pull my Teardrop Camper and not have to sleep in a tent.
Ya'll wore them out that day. I remember seeing you over there busting your butt trying to filet all those fish so Speck could fry them
What do yall think about those new strike king crappie cranks?
They look good....but not much of a color selection to choose from
Only have 6 colors to choose from but only 3 are worth gettin.
I like the way the Wally Marshall crankbaits worked ( and the price) but they only had 12 colors and only about 4 of them were good colors. The Strike King crappie cranks look to be in the same price range as Bandits, but they do need more and better colors, maybe they will come out with some more.
Oh great, more cranks to buy.
Just looked at them on their web site. They're called Slab Hammer Crank Baits. I like the colors but didn't see a price.
OK Maj get the codone pills out and start buyin!
They are Strike King Slab Hammers. Right now they only have 6 colors out....they come in two different sizes....they are $4.99 at Cabelas and BPS has them for $ 4.69 They look good
Colors arn't all that bad, but they only go 8' deep compared to 12' for the Bandit.
Hard to beat a Bandit.
No need to when you have a Bandit and Scotts airbrush.
Pulled cranks on Chotard Thu, caught 8-10 good fish, Fri only 2 but had to leave the water early, Sat got 4 big fish, 13+" but needed 7 of those to even come close in the tourney.
Hey Maj - I noticed that this is the 1 year anniversary of " Pullin Cranks 101" and what a thread it was. I just wanted to know other than all of us with lighter wallets, What did you learn? I came across the thread in Oct and with all the posts can't wait till this summer to start pullin. Iam like you maj between the rods , reels, bandits terrova and etc. Iam up to about 3000.00 and still not enough. Just wanted to thank you for starting the thread and jump starting our local economy. Hope to see you on the water!
BillyE
Thanks Billy, and I'm still learning, even when NOT to pull cranks. Check out out Fruit Jar schedule in the "sticky's" and come fish with us. We will have several FJ's in north MS that would be an easy drive for you. Look forward to seeing you.
Great thread maj.......this has really been a good one......I have been spending money for a year now on account of this. I cannot see a end in sight either, Lmao
You guys are right, I'm also addicted to pullin cranks. I only have 1 arm and 1 leg left, and at the rate I'm going they won't be there long...
