Just because Billy isn't new yet.
Hmmm....seems that my evil meniacle master plan for board domination may need a slight adjustment.
Wannabe...
Anybody tried Purple Fire Tiger?
1125 Spring Craw/Chart
Had nothing else to read so just scanned over this fine thread again.
To celebrate the fact that Wannabe added three new chapters to Billy and the kid I decided to post again here in the CB 101 thread.....Blue Chrome is a great color.
crome clown what i like, whats billy and the kid lol
I did learn some stuff about pulling cranks at the Boutla tourney on Fri night. We haven't even scratched the surface yet.
I am all ears Maj
Bandits aren't the only bait in town.
StrikeKing is really starting to gain ground among the crappie fisherman.
whats the other bait maj
A lot of guys are using #7 Shadlings in different colors....perch color they say works good. These crankbaits are long but have a tighter wiggle than the Bandits do
I've been trying to tell you boys that y'all are so hung up on Bandits, y'all won't look at anything else. Go to Brad's KILLER Fishing Gear and pick out your colors then go to Bob's Outdoors - Quality Sporting Goods and order your Brad's wigglers. You won't regret it.
Storm Wiggle Warts are good also. A lot of the guys fishing Pickwick are using a StrikeKing crankbait with good results.
I've got a BUNCH of the Wiggle warts and they a re jam up
Where do you buy the Wiggle Warts? I wouldn't mind trying some next year... What size do you get in wiggle warts?
Those brad wigglers look awesome. Got a good color selection too...
The old Storm wiggle wart is the best but to expensive. The new SWW is made by Rapala and not in the same class. Brad's Wigglers have the same design and action as the old SWW. I am trying to get Brad's to send us some cranks for our get together. I will post some places to order Brads.
Thanks man... that is what I thought. I have seen the old storm wiggle warts on ebay but they sell pretty high. Brad has much better color selection. Still not cheap but neither is Bandit. I am going to have to order a few to try.
If buying the old storm wiggle wart.. what size is best. I have seen the Mag wiggle wart and it is HUGE. Might get lucky on an auction one day but don't want to end up with a bunch of baits I can't use.
DoubleG
Go to Brad's KILLER Fishing Gear and click on Dealer locator. Enter 98632 in the zip code section. scroll down to distance and enter 100. Hit go and the dealer highlighted in yellow is where you want to order them from. Call the number and ask for Codie. He will give you a little help on price. The good thing about them is that if they don't have to colors you want, they can have them and ship them out that day. They are around the corner from Brad's warehouse. I'm presently working on some new crappie colors for them. Hopefully they can get them on the market in 6-8 months.
Sounds good....what do they cost?
A little pricy G, I've seen them @ 7 - $9.
Thats what I thought......thats about the price range I have found on the Strike King baits that some are using as well.
Go to Ebay and people sell them all the time. I go on, figure out whats the most I want to pay per bait. Then subtract the shipping and bid. You win some and you lose some. I did it for 3 lots of them one time and won 35 Wiggle warts. LOL 3 bucks each. Also go to google and type it in. Think you can find them for $3.99 on a couple web sites
No, no,no. The Brad's wigglers are anywhere from $3.79 to $5.49. The magnums a little higher. Y'all need to check out the e-chip wiggler. They run around $6.99. The e-chip sends a distressed fish signal that the fish think is a wounded fish. I have several and they work great. Also, use your search engine and find Brad's wigglers. They never intended them to catch crappie. This company was started mainly as a salmon, steel head bait company. Also, check out the split bait lure.
I bought mine here, don't know if it is the good ones or not, my first. Says original, out of six one does not run right, found the line tie to be loose this morning. Will super glue and try it tomorrow.
Storm Wiggle Wart
They have Storm Original Wiggle Warts at BPS...$3.99 ea. Walmart also has them. Do not get the Mag Wart as it is a lot bigger.
Go baits they should work.
Those are the new Wiggle warts. They are not as good as the old ones. That web site also has Brad's wigglers but you can find them cheaper if you search for them.
OK! I've read the full 80 pages. I've seen a question asked 3 times with no answer. What is the difference a Bandit will run using 10# compared to 8# and 20# braid. I know what the difference will be casting, but not trolling. Running all 3 at 50'
I use 6lb mono and get about 2' deeper than I do with 10lb mono due to smaller diameter, that ratio will vary some depending on how much line you have out. In other words, I can cover 13-16' with 3 rods on a side running 55-75' of line out on 6lb vs. 3 rods running 65-110' of line with 10lb. I spend a little less time reeling in line and letting it back out this way and get a little edge on turning radius with the shorter line lengths. I tried some 4lb this year and had a few breakoffs but the 6lb is doing great, BPS Excel mono. Also, I didn't notice much difference in the running depths b/w the 6lb and 4lb, if your braid is 6 or 4lb diameter it should be pretty comparable to my results. I haven't tried braid for cranks but I'm happy with the mono because I like the little stretch it gives you running at 2 mph, you get some forgiveness when a big catfish hits it (landed a couple around 10-12lbs this summer on 6lb) and it probably hooks up a little better on crappie for the same reason. I don't lose many baits with the light line but I'm not fishing around a lot of snags either, that would be a good reason to go with braid or heavier mono for sure.
I probably won't go to braid, I was just curious. I do have a bulk spool of 8# Stren Hi Vis yellow that I plan on using. Everyone talks 10#, so I just wanted to know what to expect with the 8.
Go for it Hunter....it won't be much difference.
I have decided to transition to braid as I need to respool because I fish many different lakes and lots of stuff to get hung up on.
I am sticking with mono....like the give......I also think it might just help ya keep from breaking a pole on some hangups.
