Three boats, two quads, a Kubota, a side by side, and a moped in my barn. I somehow still have room to do a few things.

Youngest son works crazy hours so no hanging out with him.
Wife is burnt out of Cabela's/Bass Pro/ etc. so no fun there.

My weekend sounds like a Country song.......
Got a rack of ribs all rubbed down. Going to put them on the Weber Sat. morning and BBQ them. Going to use some of Wicklundrh's Apple wood for smoke. Should be done in time for supper...

I couldn't decide- beef roast or pork roast- so I'm making both. Put them in the oven at 5:15 and will cook them low and slow, they should be done for the game. Bought 50 lbs of fresh dug potatoes so I'll add some taters, carrots and mushrooms a little later. With colder weather heading our way I'm going to stow away patio furniture and start fall clean up.

If anybody wants hickory nuts, I have a bumper crop this year. Come get all you want. I've picked up a 6 qt bucket full and there's 10x that many on the ground and still in the tree. I'll have happy squirrels this winter.

Hickory nuts.....reminds me of that grape nuts commercial a lot of years ago with Euell Gibbons.

Progress on the UP honeymoon suite, about 90% insulated, at least I can keep some heat in.

And in other news, Grandson keeps setting that bar higher....I’m never gonna keep up. Not only did he get a Master Angler fish (I’ve never done) he shot a pair of wood ducks (I’ve never done) and is in a magazine, which is his second magazine.

I got all the lawn furniture put away yesterday. Got the 5th wheel winterized, pontoon winterized & shrinked. Now it's just trying to keep the leaves cleaned up, do some grilli'n & smoki'n.

Got started this morning then got distracted. Ended up getting a big tarp and my duck bill on the end of an old pool cleaning pole and shaking a couple of buckets of apples out of the tree. Still a bunch up there but the deer need to eat, too. Cored about half and put them on to cook then made 9 quarts of applesauce. Usually I just freeze it but I canned this to see how it would work, this makes 18 quarts for the year. I'll take some south with me to share with the kids. Sure is good stuff.

Both roasts turned out perfect, the only hiccup is the MSU game has been in a weather delay so my nap time is being messed up.

Steve, I have that same type of heater but mine is on a frame so I can cook on it. Many coffee cans of stew and chili have been warmed up on that thing and many pots of coffee perked. I even fried chicken breast on it one year when I didn't think I had a prayer to see a deer, much less a buck. I had my coat and boots off, the radio playing and chicken in the pan when I looked up from my book to see a nice 8 point standing 50 yards away. He made good jerky and summer sausage.

I was wrong. I'm grown up enough to admit it, too. The Spartans played a heck of a game and pulled out a 24-21 victory on a last second field goal. I figured that they would get trounced but what do I know? I don't even mind that I missed my nap. Go Green!

Well OSU lost, would be a perfect night to see UofM lose as well.

I watched the rain and thought of building an ark.

After years, I was tired of walking through mud. I purchased rubber boats last Friday. Only had one day this week that I didn't need them. Blame the rain on me.

If your interested, they are Muck Arctic Pro boots. 8mm neoprene with a fleece lining, and a 2mm foot bed under the removable sole. If you are looking for a pair of rubber winter boats, these are for you.

I prefer my LaCrosse icemans that are almost 30 years old. Unfortunately, most companies think thinsulate is half as warm as a quality felt liner. They are idiots
