Your not hitting the river with old "figure 8" are you??? If so, I'll keep a seat warm in case you want to abandon ship!!
I need to test those jigs out to ensure they re going to work ok. If they don't work, I'll sell them all to you... if they do work... You might not hear anything from me:Rofl
Umm umm we'll see what happened was... Yea I know!! I need to get a video camera installed on my boat so I can capture this legendary boat control!!! Lmao
now that's some funny stuff
nothing that dramamine cant fix:Rofl
I am sure you will do fine, your touch is a lot better than mine. It was my first times ever vertical jigging and it made it very difficult for me.
Good luck boys and make sure to post pictures
Looks like the walleye bite is hot on Lake Michigan around Muskegon.
Have the day off work today. Last night I got all my fishing stuff gathered, packed the truck, put the trolling motor battery on the charger. My wife walks out and says, "don't forget, you have a doctors appointment in the morning".
well poop. No morning fishing. Hopefully the rain holds off for me to get a little in this afternoon.
Just a few pointers Al... Not saying I've ever fished that channel between lake Michigan and Muskegon lake, or the old sand docks next to the channel.... but... If I was to have ever fished it, I would want to possibly try trolling a few hot-n-tots in black and gold, or a few rapalas. Near shore on Lake Michigan and through the channel and then south of the sand docks. Throw a few bottom bouncers out for good measure.
I'd probably be running some baits behind my "Off-Shore" boards!!
Oh, and not saying I've fished it either but..... if you go east across Muskegon lake from the shipping channel, there is a flat (about 6 to 10 feet deep). Starts getting a few weeds this time of year. You might find a walleye or two hanging out around that area..
Just sayin!!!!!
Have fun. I've called in sick at the doctors a few times myself!
Good info, never fished it yet
Wife and I got out on a local lake yesterday afternoon. From 5-9:30ish. We caught 25 decent crappie. Nothing super huge, but nothing tiny either. First cast yesterday landed me the first fish, so I knew it'd be a good day.
What ready2fish said usually works for me too. Congrats on a nice mess Al.
Made it out this evening for a few hours on Gun lake, I was pulling crawler harness and caught this guy
No walleye, ended up catching Pike,Perch and Crappie, water temp was 70 deg
We threw them all back anyways...
ready2fish: is that a green perch? LOL wife and I are camping at state park Tues-Thurs..no boat:(..do you think I will be able to catch some of those from the bank? :biggrin
snagging is illegal. :biggrin
I think I would have thrown it back. Maybe grow up into a rubber net with an extension handle!
hey jim, nice catch, those are out of season I think.
I was on gun last week with a friend, we found a few nice crappie hanging around the break , they should be on some beds by now.
Yep going to try and get out sometime this week and see if I can find some crappie
Hopefully I can post some pictures
It certainly appears that especially in some of the shallower lakes the spawn is right on the horizon. Water temps are right there in many of them.
Made it out last night for a few hours, it was a little rough for my small boat trying troll along the break line.
Had a hot spot to try and it started out good pullig in fish after fish then it shut down and I could not buy a bite.
Water temp was 63 degrees all fish that I caught were males
the DNR was doing a survey so they had nets all over the lake and you had to watch out where you were going
All fish were released
Sounds like a good time..
Greetings all,
Just a quick update. Today is 5/15 and I'm back home with a new Aortic bovine Valve in my heart and a 4 inch scar on my chest. All is going well the operation was a success and now all I have to do is heal up for a couple months. Gonna have time ro respool some reels and get everything ready to go. Doctor said the valve crumbled to dust when it hit the air, it was really bad, worse than they thought. Thank you all for all the prayers. I'm pome bound for a month and just have to be real careful what I do until this heals. I am amazed and the skills of the Doctore, Nurses, and medical staff at Toledo Hospital cardiac unit and all the prayer warriors who were lifting the surgeons up to accomplish this. Thank you all again for the prayers.
Grace be with you all,
Mike & Tiff
Good to hear Mike. I was just wondering about you the other day while I was down in your neck of the woods.
My grandfather had the exact same surgery in the 1960's. At the time, they said it would only last about 15 to 20 years. He lived 45 more years before he passed at the age of 96. Do what the Dr's say, and don't over extend yourself. If you need help, ask for it. I know we are proud sometimes and like to do things on our own however, there is a difference between what we know we can do and what we should do.
Let me know when you are ready to go fishing. We can always head to Lake Erie!!
Excellent news Mike. I bet that's a big weight off the family's mind. It is amazing what the medical profession can do now days. Heal well and we'll keep y'all in our prayers.
Glad to hear all went well Mike.
Wicklundrh I just drove through your little town...
Which one, Leslie or Dansville? I live close to both
Leslie. Drove through for work on Saturday.
Next time, you should plan a lunch break and go fishing!
That Saturday, I coulda walked off the job and gone fishing. It was a crummy day.
Went Catfishing on the Thornapple River tonight. We caught three total with my wife's being the biggest...
