That right there could take your mind off your lazy contractor. :cheers2
I need me one of them...
got her all cleaned up and motor on tonight. just need some seats and mount the trolling motor.then should be ready. so it will probably rain this weekend lol
alboy you want a lazy contractor or the barn find lol
I prefer the barn find, but I can deal with the lazy contractor if the end results in putting me in a boat:Rofl
I thought I would say hello, Al. I was perusing and noticed you were the only person currently looking at the Michigan sight. Also, thanks for visiting the Louisiana off topic Yankee, anytime.
Yeah I think Al is more of a homeboy. Me on the other hand, I like to venture out and see what kinda trouble I can stir up elsewhere. :biggrin
Just got back from another 10 day trip to work in Kentucky......what'd I miss? :biggrin
Welcome home Steve! Summers are pretty quiet here on the board...must be everyone but me is out fishing. :biggrin
Not any crappie fishing on my end. Been chasing Walleyes the last three weeks or so. I have a spot I've been saving to run a few new tactics on but Saturday is calling for temps in the lower 90's with heat index near 100. That is a recipe for a thunderstorm late in the day. I'll make the run to Saginaw again, put the sun screen on my white legs (cause I don't usually wear shorts) and see what I can come up with.
back from da'UP for a few days now..fishing was great..catching, not so much :( weather was super as was the company..truck ran beautifully, happy with that for sure! now will do a 4 wheel brake job, $, and hopefully will be ready to go..wick,post a eye photo please, a least I can see what they look like :biggrinDr. appt now..be safe
update bomber is still in the shop, but it has a transom in it 8 more weeks we should see the stringers getting fitted lmao.
Attachment 209562 in the mean time the ebbtide is ready for a trial run. just needs some crappie stickers on her and ready to go
Nice
Looks good "G".
5: as for the pics, I didn't end up going. With the weather calling for high temperatures and a possible t-storm I decided to stay close to home. I did end up hitting a local crappie lake however a storm cell came up just before the bite normally starts. Always next weekend I would guess
Whatsamatter guys, too hot to have any random thoughts to post? It was 100 today down here, but it felt like 400. lol
Hot? I've been framing a garage and mud room this past week and I swear up in the attic with no air flow it had to have been 115 degrees! Drink a gallon of water and sweat it out! I do enjoy the end result, loose a few pounds and gain some $$$!
I saw enough hot in the working years, work in a cooler part time now. Much better! Can't wait for fall.
I dropped three big trees this spring, two wild cherry and one red oak...now I'm cutting them up. Much better later in the day when the temps get into the 70's and below. You boys down south have built up a tolerance to high temps and humidity.
Not really yankee, we just sweat like pigs. All you have to do to get soaked with sweat is stay outside 5 minutes. Was 98 today. And you be careful Ashman, my attic probably got to 140 today and I don't have black shingles. They say a black shingled roof down here can get the attic up to 165. I know my electric bill almost doubled this month. A/C on a lot.
Two things: Wicklund isn't built for speed or for heat!!!
Abby and Daddy hit Saginaw yesterday for some walleye fishing. Too hot to do anything else but fish in my opinion. Thank god I purchased a beach umbrella several years ago. I'm not a fan of the restrictions of a Bimini top but the umbrella is awesome. I can prop it up on my windshield support bracket in the middle of my walk through. Throws shade on both seats plus the front deck and there is tons of room to fish and work in the back of the boat while trolling.
We kept six really nice fish for the freezer and the rest went back to live another day. It was however too hot for me to operate my phone and take pictures!
I was just looking at the Sportbrellas on line the other day. I'll have to study my deck layout and figure out how I would position one if I were to pull the trigger on it...besides might come in handy on the beach when the fishing isn't so good, eh?!!
That was a funny first line wick. Yankee you can build a pvc holder that fits on your seat pole. Several guys down here did that recently.
I was one of those....I used 1 1/4" sch 40 pvc.....it would not slide over the seat pole so I had to cut out the middle section.....works perfect with just 2-"T"'s without the pipe connecting them....made this for the "Sportsbrella" ....cut the hole in the end cap to give a snug fit on the pole ..(did not glue down the end cap)..had to remove the bottom plastic piece at the bottom of the umbrella pole to get rid of the rivets holding it on and hot glued it back in place....

Don, my umbrella looks similar to the one pictured above. My connector pole is a little bit longer than his. In my old boat, she slid right in to one of my vertical rod holders I use when moving from one spot to another. Mine has a pointed plastic end for jamming in to the ground at the beach and the top will also angle. I purchased mine at Wal-mart a number of years ago but the colors actually match my boat! Folds down into a 4ft or so carrying pouch. I do however like the setup that "prefers shiners" made. Not sure if those are made and sold on the market... if not, I would consider a patent on that idea. It is a good one!
Thanks "D". I got the framing job done and have moved on to 2 roof repair jobs (still hot here) seems like I could have/should have scheduled them when it was cooler...... :banghead oh well, it is what it is.
Did a little fishing with the grandkids this weekend, it was so hot the fish didn't want to bite on anything.
That umbrella idea looks neat, reminds me of years ago when all the farmers had umbrellas mounted on their tractors, before the days of A/C cabs.... :Rofl
wick, some people use 1 1/2 pvc and you don't have to cut out the middle, like my close friend and fishing partner did. But most people don't think to add the cap with the drilled out hole like Bruce did. Only takes a hour or so to build one.
Whats everybody use to organize the plastic packages of Gulp, Charlie Brewers sliders, etc?
If there is a thread already about it, can someone point me in that direction?
Has to be a better way to store, than a plastic Meijer bag.....
I have a couple of these that work great, although I remove the plastic baits, etc. from the packages. One has plastics, the other has various jigs, etc. They've shown up as door prizes at a couple of our camps in the past also.

I went "shopping" in Don's boat several years ago and found his compartments awesome for being able to quickly find things that I might want or need! I can easily return stuff that doesn't work either!!
I have a bag I purchased at Gander Mounter that is made for holding the little plastic zipper bags that soft plastic baits come in. I like it okay but Brian and I found something better a year or so ago.
My daughter had a "Barbie" tackle box (oh yes it is purple, and pink). The little tiny bags for twister tails and stuff fit perfectly into that box. It works so great that Brian bought one for his boat (a Barbie one)!
FYI:
When referring to "shopping" in one's boat. It is a sarcastic joke/word for looking in one person's boat and checking out their setup, how they have things laid out, and their gear. It is NOT to borrow stuff (unless you are looking in Kevin's boat)!
Attachment 210677I guess I'll check out the Gander Mountain idea, however I could claim the Barbie tackle box is my Granddaughters......she does like to fish and be in the boat!

(Edit*) I really need to figure out why my pictures are sideways...
Steve.your setting is on landscape instead of portrait most likely. Would save me some trouble. lol
Yankee, I was watching a movie for the thousand time and made me think of you. You look like a bald Quigley, from Quigley Down Under(Tom Selleck).:biggrin Same facial hair.
yea the blue bomber is done!!! now this guy wants full payment, even tho it took 9 weeks longer than i was told. and now my control box for the motor is missing :bash:bash:bash. thank god i took picture of the boat sitting in his shop, and you can see it in a few of them. trying to tell me it wasn't their. now what to do?
Police report would be in my future. Followed by getting the word out to everyone. A post on the MI sportsman site might be a good place to start. I would also let the owner know what I was doing. If he values his reputation, I would bet he changes his tune.
Great day yesterday..our Calif. daughter and family arrived late afternoon :highfivethey will be here till Sat. good times..going to have beautiful weather..will take the grandsons fishing..at 3 and 5 yrs old, it should be interesting..gonna be a fine week..5
