Go fishing!!!
I also always wanted to pickle some pike, worked with a guy may years back that did that and it was darn good
Headed up to Presque Isle to my Son's in the morning. Going to do some Perch fishing on Grand Lake for a couple days.
Fished last night at my favorite winter crappie hole. Tons of work for nothing. Caught 1 crappie that lived to fight another day. Might go again this evening to a different lake
Dont feel bad Rich, I went out this morning and worked the auger good and only got 2 gills
Larry, hope you get some goods ones, make sure you post some pictures
Any one need a tow bar I made, only used one time :banghead
No reasonable offer refused, willing to trade for some crappie gear
Sheez Jimmy, looks like you got in a fight with whatever you were towing...it won.
It was only a prototype! Next model will be extra strong. Looks like a beaver got after that thing.
Ice fishing has been terrible. Not just for me. I assume it has something to do with the constant change in weather, temp, and barrometer. I do however get good exercise from walking, drilling 200 holes, kneeling, and so on and so forth.....
Speaking of prototypes, I made this fishing rod rack for my son.
......and with my brand on it.....
Looks good Ashman.
I've been looking at making a couple myself. Building rods ends up leaving me with a ton of rods laying around. I hate to lay high dollar rods all over the place. I used to own a custom furniture shop. Built so much stuff in the last 10 years that I just can't bring myself to begin the work!
No time better to open up a new project.Snow, snow, snow! Tying some gigs today. Don't forget to fill the bird feeders.
ya..snowin' like, well you know..10-12in is my guess..how is it your way?
We got about 2" in South Branch.
14 inches was a bit of overkill. I was in the truck plowing for 8 hours today on ten different residential and one commercial property.
I often ask myself the same question. I always come back with a similar answer: The only thing I don't do, is something I have not tried yet.
I quit drinking 9 years ago. Back then, the question would be reversed: Do you do anything?
Staying busy was the way I started combating my adiction. Back then, I always talked about the things I was going to do. Now I do all the things I talked about.
I have not tried:
Basket weaving
Thumb Wrestling (on the professional level)
Amature rocket building (minus drain cleaner explosives)
I joke!
I hear ya'..still have a beer or two when we do dinner out w/friends..I do woodworking in the winter, fishing in summer, yard work all the time, LOL..as for the 'grand kids'..we have nine...ta
We have a flock of sheep and 1 Catahoula hound that keep us busy. We got 14" of snow and we live in the middle of corn fields so we have BIG drifts. Pain in the butt. Thank God my 40 year old Kubota started so I could get it plowed. I'm pulling the shanty out so I can try to get some perch at Bolles Harbor or Sterling State Park when the temps warm a little. These old bones do not handle the deep cold as good as they used to.
Holy Cow It's Mike Maveal! Been a long time since I heard from you!
Finished up these last night for a customer of mine. I do all the woodwork as well as the skull cleaning, shaping, and mounting. I don't do near as many as I used to (which sometimes is a good thing).

Attachment 189269Attachment 189270Finished up my ice fishing rig. Been working on it as a winter project. Had to be sanded & painted. Finally took it for a test run yesterday. Everything worked fine, but the fish weren't biting. Got one nice Bluegill.
Nice rig Larry
Thanks Jimmy
Nice Larry. Thinking I may need to start on one of those soon.
Nice setup Larry. I always like the runners on sleds. Way better than the old plastic jobs. Looks like a mini dog sled. I'll bet the grandkids wouldn't mind a ride in it
On the subject of projects, has anyone done a floor covering with the vinyl floor cover? I have a bad spot on my floor, so I am thinking of replacing carpet with the marine vinyl product.
Nice job Larry, that could be used for so many things.
I've done the vinyl job. Make sure you clean the surface really well and use a good adhesive. I spread it on both sides then wait till it is tacky to put it down. Use more than one person, stretch it when putting it in to avoid creases. Use a roller to ensure contact and get the bubbles out. Make your pieces oversized and trim them afterwards.
It's a nice sled but the shanty is too small. There's no storage in it. I used it twice and I bought a new one yesterday. We bought a Shappell FX 200 it has a huge sled with enough room for anything & everything. The other one is also a Shappell 2000 we got it new for $249 and I will take $150 if anyone's interested. It has the skis on the bottom.
They still want to be a part of Wisconsin:Rofl
Gotta love it when that happens.
I've had to avoid all contact with my boat lately. I got caught sitting in it pretending I was jigging!
Attachment 189983 well i got board and decided to put a new floor and transom in the old bomber.
