Kevin, Funny you mention lake Missaukee as I was going to mention it as well. A number of years ago, the lake was full of hammer handle pike. After years of "no size limit" fishing, they seem to have gotten them in check. The lake now boasts a pretty decent walleye population. It has always been great perch fishing although they have been small over the last few years. I have a sister that lives on the lake and the local bait shop is run by a guy I went to school with. The normal winter crappie grounds are less than a block from my sisters house. There is a small motel at the end of the lake and the walleye grounds are right downtown. Plus, it is close to Houghton lake, Lake Cadillac, and Lake Mitchell.

Maybe the thing to do is Pick this location as a base. Hold something like a little "friendly tournament". Give guys the opportunity to fish whatever lake they want. Then have a fish fry back at a motel after dark? This would also give us "night fisherman" the opportunity to go back out and experience that as well. Just a thought.

I know why Hermin wants to fish higgins!!!! I'll bet it has something to do with the picture of him catching SMELT???? Just a guess but Higgins is known for smelt... and lake trout
