Your friends name wouldn't be Terry La Duke would it? I know a guy by that name.

Holy 5 pages of comments and over 575 views! Either an exciting topic or a touchy topic. Way to go Kevin!

So, tip up town is out... I agree with that. I guess the thing to do is pick a weekend and go from there? In that central area there is quite a few lakes... if we are considering that area. There is also alot of different species of fish too. What do you reccomend Larry? We should get Frank (Slabsrus) to comment. He is from that area and I'll bet he has some good ideas. That is, if we are set on going to that area.

Issue right now is going to be the weather. This week is going to kill our southern Michigan Ice. Jimmy and I talked about it the other day. Saginaw is already iffy, and this weather will kill that. Mike told me that Monroe area is the same way. Central Michigan (Lansing area) currently has ice but it isn't great... in other words it will be unsafe by this weekend. I have not see the long range forecast nor have I seen the forecast for northern michigan. If the Ice is good in the UP, and perch are in, I will be headed that way the weekend of MLK birthday. If not, then I'll go someplace else. Can't make a plan right now only because of the looming weather.

My friend lives out of Cedarville right on Huron. The Perch are not in yet. If they don't move in within the next 10 days then I won't make that trip as it won't be worth it. Heck, let it all melt, I'm ok with getting the boat back out and fishing the river for walleye again. 70 degree weather in March was awesome. Another year without ice and I might have to sell all my gear!!! Ya right

Nothing definite for us yet. I see a new heart Dr. at 3pm today. That will help me decide what were doing.

Patience - The farmers Almanac says we are going to get ice making temps. On your way to work check out the horses. If they are all furry looking it's going to get cold. If they're slick get out your boat. The bee hives are high in the trees which means we're gonna get some snow. Our daughters goats look like "chia pets" which means COLD. I told Tiff if she was nice I would take her ice fishing for our anniversary in February - if looks could kill! Ha! Ha! My shanty is leaning against the wall in the barn - waiting.

i agree no TUT, i like to fish at nite and dont want to worry about a half drunk snowmobiler running me over while slaying the crappie. right now the weather looks like will return to freezing temps next week so we could still have safe ice up around the houghton lake area, missaukee lake -seems to have good crappie population according to my lakes book. maybe lets look at the 2nd or 3rd week of feburary to be on the safe side as far as ice and time to plan?
get in, sit down, shut up and fish
