Ok, I bought my Xi5 with pinpoint at the end of November, its a 24v 80# model replacing my oem 12v 43# on my Bass tracker pt175. I work a seasonal job, so I figured I would have time to upgrade the boat and install before Crappie season started. Well after adding a battery a 3 bank charger and the Xi5 I was ready for the season, and $2000 poorer, took it on the water this Winter to link the remote to the Tm and everything worked as advertised, I was pleased and ready for Spring. Well yesterday was the first day out Crappie fishing, I used my big motor to get out to where I wanted to fish, dropped the Tm down plugged it in, it lit up, I grabbed the remote and got no response using the remote, actually the Tm gave a little jerk to the right and that was it. First thought was the batteries in the remote had gone dead sitting over the Winter, so I got out the remote foot control, read how to link it with the Tm, got the 2 beebs telling Me it was linked, and again nothing no response at all.
So after a few choice words, I figured no trouble I will just return it, and if all else fails remount my old Tm. After trying new batteries in the foot control today I called BP to ask about the trouble I had, and they told Me I would have to take it to the local Motorguide service center a hour away, I asked why I couldnt just exchange it for a new one, he replied Motorguide will not exchange it if its more than a Month old (screwed again). I explained I am a Crappie fisherman and did He know what the turn around at the shop was, he didnt know!
Wondering if anyone has had trouble with there remotes communicating with there Tm? I am hoping its something simple, I caught 43 fish yesterday drifting, the water temp was 46 degrees, in a week or two the bite should be on and I am gonna have a caw if I miss it.

Sorry to hear that you are having those issues. Have been out 3 times with mine. It is the 55 thrust with 48inch shaft with sonar. And not a lick of trouble with the motor or remote. Have only tried the foot pedal once. The only trouble that i was having was the mount hitting the rubber boat stop on the trailer when i load and unload. Moved the roller up about 2 inches that the boat sits on when on the trailer and problem solved. Please keep use up to date on how it works out for you. Thinking about getting a new HDS touch 7 to link to it and letting my HB unit on the bow go. But need to know how motorguide's cust service is w with resolving issues before I take that leap. Best of luck to you

I'm having issues with the foot control.after using the remote, then going to the the foot pedal, the trolling motor doesn't respond..sometimes the trolling motor will make little juryks and sometimes won't turn at allall.allso the motor won't come on sometimes.Works fine with the remote though. Once the trolling motor does start responding to the pedal, it will keep working until I use the remote again. Then it starts acting up again.

Yeah that is going to be my next purchase, I am still running 2 4" 2d Depth finders. It sounds like Motorguide washes there hands of liabilitys after 30 days, so buyer beware, if You buy one mount and use it right away. We will see what the repair shop does, I've heard good things about them in the past, I just worry they will be too busy to work on it right away

I used just the foot pedal today.the ix5 responded well, until I stored it and moved to next location.when I deployed it, it would not respond to the foot pedal so I had to use the remote.i tried new batteries and also erased the memory and reset the remote to the ix5 but I couldn't reset the foot pedal at first because for some reason the ix5 doesn't recognize the foot pedal at times.Later in the day after several attempts, i got it to work, but there were times later on that it wouldn't work.Im thinking that it software related, but I'll give motorguide a call and see what they think. (The spot lock worked very well today, as did the remote, but I've got to have the foot pedal working)

    FYI
I got a Lowrance gateway from eBay. Working perfectly.
I can look at a set of way points near each other, the the xi5 to go to the next one, and away we go.
thus far , I'm happy with it.

Update on My Xi5 issues, I called the local repair shop they recommended installing new batteries in the foot control and hand held remote, which I did and still did'nt get any Tm control. They said the product is so new that it would be best to call Motorguide which I did, it seems both foot control and hand remote had lost there connection with the Tm, so after I erased the memory and then linked both the foot control and hand held remote to the Tm, it looks like everything is up and running. The only unexplained issue I have now is the Lowrance Elite 4 that I am running off the Tm transducer is'nt reading correctly or should I say much different than the one at the helm, but I was advised to try adjusting the sensitivity which could very well be the issue. So all is well, electronic stuff can be a challenge for Us older guys, or at least this guy! whewww

Here's how I installed mine. I used the slide bracket Skeeter is using for their boats which is made here in Texas by a company called R&R Design. They run $150 and are much stiffer and heavier duty than the MKA47. On top of that this bracket has a spring loaded pin that lets you go from front to back without having to screw a bolt like the MKA47.

I used a Motorguide aluminum quick release bracket also, and the good news is the Motorguide bracket bolts directly to the R&R Design bracket. The one problem I ran into was the "knuckles" were 1/8" too low and they were touching the bottom bracket when pulled all the way back. Went to Home Depot and got a flat aluminum piece of stock that was 1/8" thick and installed it between the R&R and Motorguide brackets. Done!!

After all this, guess what? I went to put the propeller on the motor and the minute I spun it with my hand I could tell something was wrong. Sounds like a piece of the magnets or armature has come apart inside.

    Sounds like this...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az_BVR9__3M

    I think I have a Harley now.
