    That is really neat.

When are these trolling motor manufacturers going to join the 21st century and release a brushless motor like the Torqeedo?

They run $150 and are much stiffer and heavier duty than the MKA47. On top of that this bracket has a spring loaded pin that lets you go from front to back without having to screw a bolt like the MKA47.

I used a Motorguide aluminum quick release bracket also, and the good news is the Motorguide bracket bolts directly to the R&R Design bracket. The one problem I ran into was the "knuckles" were 1/8" too low and they were touching the bottom bracket when pulled all the way back. Went to Home Depot and got a flat aluminum piece of stock that was 1/8" thick and installed it between the R&R and Motorguide brackets. Done!!

After all this, guess what? I went to put the propeller on the motor and the minute I spun it with my hand I could tell something was wrong. Sounds like a piece of the magnets or armature has come apart inside.

    I think I have a Harley now.
There's good news and bad news diel, good news is, you can get motorgiude to fix that issue. The bad news is that your not going to have the same room for your transducer cable, that you had with minn koda and also you won't no what speed your xi5 is running, using the hand held remote either, because the remote doesn't show speed settings. (The spot lock works really good though. If the wind is blowing.if the wind dies down though, the xi5 go's crazy.)

Thanks Kosmo. I usually don't look at the remote for speed but it would be nice to know at what setting you're on. I have an Ulterra coming so the Xi5 is more for when we go to the coast. Just stinks that this is the second motor and both have had some type of problem.

They said the product is so new that it would be best to call Motorguide which I did, it seems both foot control and hand remote had lost there connection with the Tm, so after I erased the memory and then linked both the foot control and hand held remote to the Tm, it looks like everything is up and running. The only unexplained issue I have now is the Lowrance Elite 4 that I am running off the Tm transducer is'nt reading correctly or should I say much different than the one at the helm, but I was advised to try adjusting the sensitivity which could very well be the issue. So all is well, electronic stuff can be a challenge for Us older guys, or at least this guy! whewww
Took the boat out yesterday, the Xi5 worked properly and after adjusting the sensitivity of the Lowrance elite it too worked well, the only thing that didnt work was the crappie and weather, it was 37 and windy, trolling 8 minnows for over a hour didnt yield a single bite, even though the graph was covered with fish all afternoon, they had a case of lockjaw, but warmer weather is coming this week so the spawn shouldnt be to far away.

    Prayer Request

So it seems to be common that a good majority of y'all needed some kind of bracket to raise the original mount on the Xi5? Hmmm, makes me wonder if I am going to need to do the same of if I should be ok just slapping it on my Lowe Stinger bass boat. If everything goes well I should have it bought and installed on Wednesday, fingers crossed. I will post pictures of the install and let y'all know how it works or what didn't work. Who knows...may be back here for suggestions.

I think Your Stinger is similar to My Tracker, I did use the lockable mount but only for security reasons. the biggest issue I see is it seems the Xi5 works better on a wider bow boat, where as bass style boats have more of a pointy or narrow angle bows. When You install it just remember the carpenters motto (measure twice cut once!!!!) I posted pix of My installation that may help You out.

WHEN I WAS USING MY MAXX 70 I CUT THE SHALF ABOUT 6 INCHES ,THEN FOUND OUT THAT THE INSIDE WAS TAPERED AND SO HAD TO BORE INSIDE TO WHAT IT WAS,IT WAS A JOB BUT I DID IT,HAD TO BE A CERTAIN SIZE FOR OTHER STUFF TO FIT SO CHECK IT OUT CLOSE BEFORE CUTTING
