RTARK is always telling me how strong his Mr Crappie line is so I decided to put it to the test. I tested Mr Crappie Hi-Vis, P line, and TriLean TransOptic all in 8 lb test/Mono. I used my digital fish scales and hung it on a door knob with a short piece of twine. I then cut off four foot sections of each line and tied the tag ends together. I then wrapped the tag ends around a cylinder piece of wood to act as a handle and secure the line from slipping at the tag end, leaving about a 1 foot loop. I Put the loop in the scales hook and then applied a steady downward pressure until each line broke, while watching the digital read out. I noted at what weight the line broke at during each test. I tested each line three times to add validity to the test. I was surprized at how close each line broke at within a few Ounces each time. I then took the average breaking strength of each line from the three test results. A good way to see just how strong your line is compared to others. Any of you can do this at home on a rainey day. Here is the results.


Mr Crappie/Hi Vis Line Dia.010... took an average of 18lbs 11oz to break

Trilean TransOptic DIA.025 took an average of 18 lbs even to break

P-line DIA.023 took an average of 15 lbs 6 oz to break.

So RTARK you are right that Mr Crappie Line is some tough stuff and at .010 DIA WOW... I will bet for those of you that dont like Hi Vis Mr Crappie clear lines are also just as tough. I will test others to try and De-thrown our initial Champion. But as of right now Mr Crappie is in the lead.
