This has worked great for me. Made at local machine shop. I'm in a RT188 so not as high. Name: DSC03443.jpg

Old knees and back will make you glad you built no less than 3 steps, 4 are even better. I see some of the commercial steps and to me they are no better than throwing my leg over the gunnel while standing on the fender.

These are all some great ideas guys. Thank you. I think I am going to do something like th picture below and weld a piece of square bar and flat bar to it to make it a 2 step system. May throw in a handle but may not. Name: IMG_1485.jpg

I wouldn't have my steps if I didn't have my handle. Never been accused of being a ballerina.

Bill, is that the best they can come up with for us old folks? Looks like every other step is missing in a stairwell.

I have something like that I built years ago. I have to put a knee on the boat to get in. I want to step onto the boat.

    Looks good.
What angle is the square tube. I guess that has to figure in with your boat and trailer.
How's the aluminum diamond plate for footing? My son has some pieces let over from skinning his camper. I would rather give the top of the step a heavy coat of paint and some sand.
    How much space between steps?

I didn't know you had to have steps to get into a kayak.
