Old knees and back will make you glad you built no less than 3 steps, 4 are even better. I see some of the commercial steps and to me they are no better than throwing my leg over the gunnel while standing on the fender.
These are all some great ideas guys. Thank you. I think I am going to do something like th picture below and weld a piece of square bar and flat bar to it to make it a 2 step system. May throw in a handle but may not. Attachment 275522

What angle is the square tube. I guess that has to figure in with your boat and trailer.
How's the aluminum diamond plate for footing? My son has some pieces let over from skinning his camper. I would rather give the top of the step a heavy coat of paint and some sand.
How much space between steps?
I didn't know you had to have steps to get into a kayak.
